Who I Am & What I Do

This is the page where I get to tell you a little about myself, my beliefs, why I did this page in the first place, and what I do for a living. I have been contemplating doing a webpage for a long time, but I guess I was a little scared to venture out and try it. Now that I have started, I cant seem to stop! Every time I think I am done I think (with Gods help of course!) up something else.

THIS IS WHAT I BELIEVE

I believe in one God, The father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is seen and unseen. I believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only son of God, eternally begotten of the father, God from God, light from light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one being from the father.Through him all things were made. For us and our salvation, he came down from heaven and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate. He suffered, died, and was buried. On the third day he rose again according to the scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end. I believe in the holy spirit, the Lord and giver of life, who proceeds from the father and the son, who in unity with the father and son is worshipped and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. I believe in one christian and apostolic church. I acknowlege one baptism for the forgiveness sins. I look for the ressurection of the dead and the life of the world to come. AMEN

THE ROAD BACK
First as I mentioned a few pages ago, this is my very first attempt at a webpage. I am a Christian by choice. I was born and raised Catholic. Shortly after college I left the chruch, and it was about 15 years before I even thought about returning. I also went to vocational school and became a Licensed Psychiatric Technician. It wasn't until 1993 that I woke up and realized that I was cheating myself out of knowing and serving God. A friend asked me to go to church with her, and I thought to myself "hmm maybe I will go and see what she has been raving about". So I went with her. Well we went to a church called HARVEST CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP in Riverside, Calif. The Pastors name is Greg Laurie. What an experience!!!!! I had never felt the holy spirit like I did that night!!!! I probably really never let myself feel that way out of some sort of rebellion or something. Pastor Greg showed me that night how foolish I had become by not knowing and loving the Lord. Shortly thereafter I went forward and re-accepted the Lord as my personal savior.

I began to see things quite differently. When Jesus comes into your life he changes you alot. He makes your heart alot softer too, and makes you more sensitive to others and their needs, and not thinking so much about pleasing yourself. A boring life started to have meaning and my job started to have a little meaning, more than it had before. You see, all those years of being a Psychiatric Technician, were about me and how much money I could make. Now I see my job as a ministry for others less fortunate then myself. Oh dont get me wrong now, I am no saint and still have days of "letting my tongue run wild" so to speak. All I can say that is I try to do Gods work on a daily basis. There are also lots of injuries to people in my field. Believe me, I too have also had my share of them.

Being a Psychiatric Technician is basically a thankless job. The only ones who benefit from anything are the patients we care for and perhaps their families. The only one who really cares is Jesus Christ. As I said before, there are lots of injuries to Psych techs. When I go to work every day I say a little prayer to myself asking God to protect me and my peers. When I leave at the end of my shift I thank him for letting me come out in one peice. One reason that I have written this page is to not only share something about myself, but to remember a Psych Tech whom was injured so badly that she still lays comatose today from injuries she sustained while practicing as a Psychiatric Technician 3 years ago. I am dedicating this page to Patsy Snow, and I hope all that come here will remember her in prayer. She virtually gave her life to our profession. I also know that God is a loving God and will watch out for Patsy as she did for others, and that in the long run her reward will be greater than anything on this earth!

What is a "PSYCHIATRIC TECHNICIAN"?

Licensed Psychiatric Technicians are in the forefront of care and treatment of Californians with mental illnesses or developmental disabilities. These specialized mental health professionals have been a unique component of the state's health care system for a quarter-century. Psychiatric Technicians are active members of interdisciplinary teams and an integral part of the quality assurance process. The Psychiatric Technician is a nursing category parallel to Licensed Vocational Nurse (California's term for Licensed Practical Nurse). Psychiatric Technician skills focus on mental illnesses and developmental disabilities, while Licensed Vocational Nurses have an emphasis on medical/surgical, maternity and pediatric nursing. As multi-talented mental health professionals with a broad range of skills and expertise, Psychiatric Technicians are key players in the many and varied aspects of California's system of treating those with mental illness or developmental disabilities. It is a profession that attracts those who truly want to help improve the quality of life for some of the most needy individuals in today's society.

The next page is a sequel to this page. It is also part of the DEDICATION TO PATSY and also a page for other injured or sick Psychiatric Technicians that also are in need of prayer. If you or anyone you know is a Psych Tech and would like to be remembered in prayer Please email me (address shown below)and give me the name of the person, the illness of the person or the injury sustained, the date of injury, and a statement of permission from that person to add him or her to my page.
