Experience with SCI the American language and culture.
We are located in the Santa Monica area of Los Angeles, California. We offer both English language courses and/or Home-Stay programs without language classes.
You will broaden your communication skills and the familiarity with the American way of life.
Participants in the program also have the opportunity to broaden their international cultural knowledge as our students come from all over the world.
PROGRAMS FOR 14 - 19 YEAR-OLDS / ADULTS
PROGRAMS
SCI offer 2 main programs:
1) Four-week English course.
2) Home-stay program without English classes.
In addition to the above, SCI can also arrange tailor-made courses and courses of shorter or longer duration. Consult us for further information about these other options.
There are several start dates in the Summer and Autumn 1999, for the different programs. Please request a schedule and brochure.
COURSE METHODOLOGY
There are several levels of proficiency, from beginners to advanced, and included in the courses are the placement tests and a comprehensive program that include all language skills such as understanding, reading, Grammar and structure training, pronunciation and special emphasis to the spoken ability of the language. American life and vocabulary are also part of the curriculum.
HOME-STAYS WITHOUT ENGLISH CLASSES
Our host families are all located in residential areas and not more than a 30-40 minute commute from SCI’s offices and teaching locations. Breakfast and dinner are included the costs of the program.
Our host families are selected for their interest in foreign students and their willingness to share their family life and home with them. Daily conversation with the family will help accelerate your progress in the language.
There are a variety of activities that are part of the course.
EXCURSIONS
Los Angeles offers every possible cultural, sports, and general interest activity: theaters, cinemas, concerts, clubs, museums, discotheques, restaurants, and some of the world’s most exciting shops. Everything imaginable is available to make your free time interesting and enjoyable.
SCI provide visits to some of these places, included in the price of the programs. For example 
Disneyland and Universal Studios-Hollywood.

When you arrive at Los Angeles International Airport, our coordinators will be waiting for you to arrange for transfer to your final destination. The same service is available to you, at no extra cost, at the end of your stay with us.
