Club News

The club dinner party celebrating the October Show on November 6^th was very well attended and our thanks again to Tom Fong for organizing the event and taking care of the details.

We had two orientation meetings on November 8^th and November 15^th for those who had expressed interest in learning more about Diablo Bonsai Club. Twenty three people attended the meetings and to date five have joined the club.

An Item of general interest is that President Clinton was presented a 250 year old Yezo Spruce and a Trident Maple during his November 1998 visit to Japan by Prime Minister Obuchi. During the Prime Minister’s visit to the United States May 2^nd & 3^rd 1999, President Clinton gave him a 300 year old California Juniper donated by Ernie Kuo of Buena Park, California and an Eel River viewing stone donated by James Hayes of Broomall, Pennsylvania.

January 2000 is the start of the new year and Diablo Bonsai Club dues need to be paid again.
