Club News
We wish to welcome Sybil Renee McGowan to the board representing the basic class. Byron Nobirga will continue serving on the board representing the intermediate class.
There was a good response to the request to start wearing your name tags to class. Doing so will help everyone to get to know each other. The new name tags are in and you can buy one for a cost of $2.00. See Bob Evans during the class to order one.
If you have not already brought the trees you are planning to donate to the October plant sale for K to look at, please bring them to the July 10th class. Also bring your regular workshop material to class. If you haven't filled in the information sheets for donation trees and returned them to Renee McGowan yet, please bring them to the July class.
Please welcome the following new members:
Jan Mahoney of Danville, and
Kevin Coppa of Antioch.
During the last board meeting the status of the club library was discussed. We will be taking a look at the books and videos to see where everything is during the July class meeting. Our goal is to activate the library again and start checking out books and videos in Septmeber. We will need two people from the basic class to keep track of the library. The books and video are kept at Heather Farm. You can check them out during one class and return them at the next class.
We have received a communication from the Golden State Bonsai Collection - North asking whether any members from Diablo Bonsai Club would be interested in volunteering to be a docent at the Bonsai Garden in Oakland. If you are interested or would like more information, see Bob Evans at one of the monthly meetings. The times the garden is open are Wednesday to Friday, 11:00 am to 3:00pm (one shift); Saturday from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm and 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm (two shifts) and Sunday 12 noon to 4:00 pm (one shift).
Barney Montoya will be putting together a work party to fix up the back-drops we use for the October show. He will have it a month or six weeks prior to the show at the storage facility in Livermore. He will need two or three people to help him. If you wish to volunteer, give Barney a call at (925)-443-8554.
Just a reminder to everyone to bring a piece of plastic to the class with you to cover the tables during the workshops.
With the new class schedule we will need a couple of people to arrive before 7:00pm to help Byron Nobriga set-up extra tables. There should be four rows of tables before class starts. The basic class should seat themselves in the two left side (north) rows and the intermediate class should seat themselves in the two right side (south) rows.
