August Meetings

Meetings are held at:

August 1st - Board of Directors Meeting at CalFed Bank on Crow Canyon Road, San Ramon, at 7:30pm

This board meeting is for the October show committees, all committee heads should plan to attend.

 

Club News

The club library will become operational in September. You can check out library materials at one monthly meeting and we ask that you return it at the next monthly meeting. We would like to thank Pat Hines and Linda Soliven for volunteering to be the librarians. The library could use some more books. If you have any books at home that you would like to donate to the club, please bring them to class and give them to one of the librarians.

There is a sale of bonsai trees in Sebastopol on Saturday, August 5 th from 9am to 5pm at the home of Frank Bordella (707)-823-8385.

Collected California Junipers (price range $600/700 - $2800) These trees were collected 3 to 5 years ago.

Frank Bordella lives very close to Lone Pine Nursery in Sebastopol (1434 Cunningham Rd)

Sharon Courtney of Alamo has donated miscellaneous bonsai related items to the club. The items will be brought to the September 11th meeting for the members to take what they want at no cost.

The board of directors discussed a field trip to a high elevation location in the July meeting. It was decided to schedule the field trip for the 3rd weekend of September, five to six cars and a one day trip. If anyone has any suggestions of where would be a good place to go, contact any of the board members.

Hours - 10am to 5pm Saturday: Demonstration by Kathy Shaner @ 130pm.

             10am to 4pm Sunday - Demonstration by Mas Imazumi @ 1:30pm.

September 16 & 17 - San Mateo Bonsai Club 37th Annual Exhibit at Central Park Recreation Center, 50 East Fifth Avenue at El Camino Real, San Mateo.

Hours - 12 noon to 6pm Saturday; Demonstration by Hitoshi Takeshita and Fred Shimo @ 2pm.

           - 10am to 5pm on Sunday; Demonstration by Steve Prevost and Toruo Ota @ 2pm.

September 30th - Midori Bonsai Club 39th Annual Bonsai Show in the courtyard of St Edwards Episcopal Church, 1540 Union Avenue at highway 85 in San Jose.
