Club News
Please welcome the following new member: George Baloyra of Lafayette.
We are sad to announce that a former past member of the club, Ethel Kaider passed away on November 21 after a long illness. Ethel started doing bonsai in the late 1940's and was very devoted to the art. When Ethel's health no longer permitted her to care for her trees, she made them available to the Diablo Bonsai Club members to purchase. Those of us who knew Ethel have lost a good friend in bonsai.
Another Orientation Class will be held at the joint meeting on December 3. If anyone knows someone who may be interested in joining the club, please invite them to come to the meeting..
The annual dues for the year 2002 are now payable. Please bring your dues to the December meeting or mail a check to Barbara Richards using the form at the end of this newsletter. The dues are $40 for single members and $65 for couples. Please try to get your dues paid as early as possible so a new club roster can be finalized and given out to the membership.
Our thanks again to Norm Wanek for organizing the work party to prune the Bonsai Garden at Heather Farms Garden Center on Saturday November 25. Our thanks also go to Scott Couture, Dimitri Koovshinoff, Don Meeker and Bob Evans who joined Norm on the work party.
Norm got away from the dinner party on November 3, before we could thank him for his donations to the plant sale and the special raffle at the October show. Norm's generosity was an important contribution to the club's financial success.
The Diablo Bonsai Club schedule of activities will be finalized at the December board meeting and will be sent to the members with the January newsletter.
