December Meetings:

December 2 - Joint Basic and Intermediate Class Meeting.

7:00 - 7:15pm Library open, 7:15 - 7:30 Business Meeting - Election of Officers and Class Representatives. Dues for 2003 are due and payable Bring check or cash. See below.

7:30 - 8:00 pm Class Instruction by Sensei Akabane: topics - Review the year.

Sale of trees donated to the Club by Daryl Bunch.

No Board meeting in December

After the meetings help clean up and put away the tables and chairs.

If you are listed to bring refreshments and cannot attend, call your Class Representative. Wear your name tags to class every month to make it easier for everyone to meet each other. If you need a name tag, ask your Class Representatives to order one. The cost is $2.00.  

Notes:. The Board is taking an inventory of club trees and pots. If you have one or more club tree(s), a tree donated by you or someone else to the Club and not sold, that you are taking care of, please list it/them on a sheet at the next meeting or mail your list to Jim Stalker.

The December Joint Meeting will include the sale of trees and pots donated by Daryl Bunch when he moved out of state. This sale will help the club financially. Come looking for that special tree you want and bring your checkbook.

Dues are due and payable in advance for 2003. The Club Treasurer will have surgery during December, and will be disabled for an unknown period of time. The Club Roster will be closed at the end of December, those who have not paid their dues will be dropped. The Board and Sensei K. Akabane thank you for your help and cooperation in this matter.

Long time Club member and Recording Secretary Bob Eden's illness has become disabling. The Club took flowers to the family with a note of our concern and sympathy.

New Club ProjectThe City of San Ramon has asked to Club for help in rescuing and maintaining an old Juniper tree at one of its parks. The tree was planted by a Japanese Caretaker at an early farm before the Second World War. The tree is in disarray, it was viewed by Sensei K. Akabane, Acting President Jim Stalker, and Editor Don Meeker. K and the Board have agreed to take the tree on as a learning project for the Club. K will call for work parties of from 4 to 5 people from time to time to do the necessary clean up and training. He estimates it will take as much as five years to get the tree finally into excellent form.

January is the start of a new year and Diablo Bonsai Club dues need to be paid again.  If you have not already paid, please fill out the following form and a check made out to: Diablo Bonsai Club and mail it to: Barbara Richards, 172 Western Hills Drive, Pleasant Hill, CA 94523, or bring it to the December meeting.

 Please remember that payment must be made by December 31, 2002, or you will not be in the 2003 Club Roster. The Treasurer and others who process the payments and club records are volunteers, they need and deserve your cooperation.
