Club Notes
Diablo Bonsai Club October Show - October 18 & 19, 2003
Set up for the show will be late afternoon, Friday the 17th. We will need as many members as possible to help with the set up. Plan on being at the San Ramon Community Center to help.
Nick Nickerson has the sign up sheets for the several committees for the Club Fall Show. Please sign up this month, if you have not done so, so your fellow club volunteers can do the planning work needed to produce a show we can all be proud of and learn from.
Bring your Display Trees and Donation Trees to the June Meeting
All Club Members, even the newest members, are expected and invited to have two display trees for the show. Pick two or three candidates from your collection and bring them to each class meeting so you can work with K on developing and refining your trees for the show. Even if you have only very young trees to show that is fine, this for all of us. In addition remember to bring your donation trees to your class.
We will be expected to have shown our display trees and our donation trees to K at, or before the August Joint Meeting. Since we will not have a July meeting, if you need, you may want to call K and make an appointment to meet him at the nursery to review your trees. The Tree Sales Committee will need to get all sale trees inventoried. If you have K review them before, be sure to bring a written record identifying the trees and the price K has suggested for the Committee. The San Ramon Juniper - As most of you know the San Ramon Parks Department has asked the Club to undertake the task of restyling an old Juniper Tree. Sensei K, estimates it will take at least five years to complete. It is a great situation for us all to learn how to train and style an old tree. All members are invited to participate. K has requested that Club Members gather and study the tree and bring their ideas on how to approach the work to class. We will try to have pictures available to make notes or sketches on so you can be clear in your suggested ideas. There will be a signup sheet at the June Meetings for participating in this project. The date is August 2, 9:30 am. Details will be available at the June Meetings and in the July and August Newsletters.
