December Meetings

Meetings are held in the large upstairs room at the Heather Farm Garden Center, Walnut Creek, and are scheduled on the 3rd and 4th Wednesday of the month, from 7:30PM to 9:30PM.  Meetings start at 7:30PM with a brief business meeting, and end at 9:30PM.
Please be ready to meet at 7:30PM.

Tuesday - December 4th - Board Meeting, Home of Steve Huskins, Walnut Creek. 7:30PM.

Wednesday, December 19th - 7:30pm. Joint Meeting.
                                          Lecture 7:30-8:00pm - Topic to be announced.
                                          Workshop 8:00 - 9:30.
                                          Refreshments and help with cleanup and close:
                                                                Barbara Sampson and Byron Nobriga.

 Notes

Spring Show 2008 - April 4-6:  At our December 19th meeting, we will take committees sign-ups for the upcoming show.  Each member needs to sign-up for 2 or 3 committees; here are the choices: Publicity, Construction, Hospitality, Sales, Display, Education, Greeting and Security / Raffle.  If you are not able to attend the December meeting, please let Steve Huskins know which committees you wish to serve on.

2008 Board of Directors:  Also at our December 19th meeting, we will select a Board of Directors for 2008. If you are interested in serving, please contact one of the current board members.  If you've been in the club a couple of years and haven't been on the board, or you've served before, but that was a few years ago now, then it probably is your turn!  Our club can only be successful when everyone contributes.

2008 Club Dues:  Dues for 2008 are now due.  The dues remain unchanged from last year at $50 ($75 couples/household).  Please submit your payment to Jim Stalker at the December meeting, or send it to him by December 31st.

Board of Directors Meeting Site: Your Board of Directors meets once a month (usually on the first Tuesday).  For the last few years we have met in a classroom at a local school.  However, as of September, the school district has raised the fee for classroom use by 1500%!  Needless to say, we are now looking for a new home.  If you know of a meeting space that we can use for about an hour and a half once a month, please tell a board member.

Wednesday, January 16th, 2008 - 7:30pm.  Basic Meeting.
                                            Lecture 7:30-8:00pm - 'Essence' How to approach the art of bonsai.
                                                                                        Moyogi (informal style).
                                            Workshop 8:00 - 9:30.
                                            Refreshments and help with cleanup and close: Cathy Souther.

Wednesday, January 23rd, 2008 - 7:30pm.  Intermediate Meeting.
                                            Lecture 7:30-8:00pm - Review of basic styles.
                                            Workshop 8:00 - 9:30.
