Notes
2008 Club Dues: Dues for 2008 are now past due. The dues remain unchanged from last year at $50 ($75 couples/household). If you have not yet paid, please submit your payment to Jim Stalker as soon as possible.
Board of Directors Meeting Site: The Board of Directors has found a new home! We will now meet in the Conference Room at Alamo Safeway. We normally meet the first Tuesday of each month at 7:30. All members are welcome to attend.
Spring Show 2008 - April 4-6: On February 5th, the club is
required to pay the City of Walnut Creek the full total for the rental of the
Community Center for our Spring Show. In order to hold our show, we need
to have the full participation of nearly every member of the club. So far,
of the 33 club members on our roster as of December 31, only 10 have signed up
to be on a show committee, and only 14 have renewed their memberships!
At our January meetings, members will be asked if they are going to fully
participate in the show. Based on the responses, the Board of Directors
will decide if we have the resources we need to put on our Spring Show.
Please be ready to make a commitment at the January meetings. If you
cannot attend your January meeting, please contact one of the Board members and
let them know if you want to be involved in a show. If we don't hear from
you, we will assume that you are not interested.
Assuming that we will have a Spring Show this year, please bring donation and display trees with you to this month's meeting. All this material should be seen by 'K' by the end of February.
Field Trip - January 19th: The club is organizing a field trip to two nurseries in Sonoma County, Sumigawa Nursery and Lone Pine Gardens. These are both excellent spots to pick up that material for this year's projects. A map and details about the trip are included with this newsletter. Please let Steve Huskins ((925) 937-4216, shuskins@sonic.net) know if you'd like to attend.
Potting Sessions - January 26th, February 2nd and 16th: The club will hold three potting sessions at the Tassajara Nursery during the next two months to assist you in preparing donation and display trees for our show. Potting soil will be provided for a small charge, and other bonsai supplies are available at the nursery. Sessions start at 9:30am.
