From the President
Dues
Dues for 2012 are now due, and must be submitted by December 31st. The
amount remains unchanged: $50, or $75 per couple or household. Please send them in using
the form at the end of the newsletter.
Shows
K and the Board of Directors have set 2 goals for our club in 2012. We
would like to once again participate in the San Francisco Cherry Blossom
Festival, held each spring. We would have a small display at the festival
of 3-5 trees. Then in Fall of 2012, we would like to hold our own club
show. Preparing our trees for a show is something that takes 6-8 months
(or more), so the time to start things about these events is now!

Bay Island Bonsai: Annual Bonsai Exhibit at the Lakeside
Garden Center, 666 Bellevue Avenue. Hours are 10AM-4PM, both days. On Saturday
at 1PM there will be an auction, with a preview at 12Noon. Guided tours of the
exhibit both days. Benefit Drawing (need not be present to win). Vendors; club
member and educational bonsai material will be for sale. Free entry to the

Saturday - Sunday, January 28-29 Oakland,
California
Bay Area Bonsai Associates: 31st Annual Bonsai Exhibition at
the Lakeside Park (Lake Merritt) Garden Center, 666 Bellevue Avenue. Show hours
are Saturday, 5-9PM and a demonstration by Ryan Neil starts at 6:30PM, followed
by a raffle of the demonstration tree. Sunday hours are 10AM-4PM. A plant sale
(including bonsai related items such as pots, tools, soils, wires, books, etc.)
will be continuous both days. Admission is free. For more information contact
