CURSILLO!
A Weekend That Can Last A Lifetime
Welcome to Monterey Bay Servant Comminity's Cursillo website (KER-SEE-O is a word that means "a little course"). Since its origin in Spain nearly 50 years ago, the Cursillo movement has grown to include millions of community members worldwide. While each person's Cursillo is unique to them, here are a few essentials:
What Cursillo is.
In our usage, it is a brief weekend course in Christian living
--an opportunity
for a baptized person from any Christian denomination to experience the
full impact of Christ's love through listening, sharing and worshipping.
Every Cursillo weekend follows the same outline: On the First Day, participants
are invited to measure their faith; on the Second Day they share ways
in which they have come to know God; and on the Third Day they learn how
that faith can be applied to their daily lives.
What Cursillo is NOT.
How often and where Cursillo weekends are held.
The Anglican Cursillo movement in the Monterey Bay Area is organized by the Monterey Bay Servant Community. Because people are often more comfortable talking with those of their own sex, there are usually two singles weekends each year; one for men and one for women. One weekend a year is slated for co-ed and is open to married and unmarried people. The weekends, which run from Thursday evening through Sunday afternoon, are held at the fully equipped, Camp St. Francis in Aptos, CA. With the exception of clothing, personal bedding and toilet items, everything else is provided. The most important thing that YOU need to bring is an openness to accept what God can give you on the weekend.
