The original scan I received was good enough to read with good eyes.

But for posting on the web it needed Improvement. So I retyped it so if there are errors, you can blame me.However I typed it so those of us with failing eyesight can see it better.  If however I error, please provide Corrections.

Test firing terrier Missiles

This photo was part of early photo either from bath or the missile builder. It wound up as a photo in the ships first cruise book. Maybe because the did not want to display real BT3 missile. Its believed this is a terrier missile test fire but no sure from what ship.

Headed for first homeport, Norfolk, Va.

I would document photographs of before and after each overhaul to show Changes throughout its life. The biggest change I was part of was the 1966 overhaul. Where there were changes topside and a addition of a flight deck to the fantail.

After decommissioning in 1969 for repairs from a boiler explosion Dewey had a second commissioning ceremony in Philadelphia Naval Shipyard. If You have a program from the ceremony in P.S.N.S.Y. please submit and we will work on a second commissioning and plank owners page.

Dewey would later be homeported in Newport, R.I., Charleston, S.C. and Mayport, Florida.
