We teach for the Sierra Hillbillies
beginners Square Dance Classes held at Sierra Vista Junior High School
in Canyon Country, CA every Tuesday night beginning in September and
continuing through the first part of June from 7:15 p.m. until 9:45 p.m.
Our current class is divided into 3 10-week sessions.
Beginning in September, new dancers are taught the "basics" of modern western
square dance. In January, new dancers progress through the "mainstream" calls.
Commencing in March, for the final 10-week session, dancers will add the "plus"
calls to their dancing agenda. Out classes are held in conjunction with the
Golden Oak Adult School, an arm of the William S. Har High School District.
Singles are always welcome. Each 10-week session is available for $52 per
person, payable by check the first night of class.
We are one of only a few husband-and-wife caller teams in
the world! We joined the Sierra Hillbillies in 1993 and began calling locally
the next year. We have called in other states, but mostly limit our calling
dates to California and Arizona locations, due to full-time work commitments
for both of us. We have called at both National and State Conventions.
