About Homeschooling

I have been homeschooled since I was 4. I am into my eleventh year of it, and I will go all the way through high school being homeschooled. I love homeschooling, and I can't imagine going to a Public school.

We have just recently moved to Florida, where homeschooling is very popular. There was homeschooling in California, but not nearly as much as there is here. There are tons of support groups you can join, and field trips you can go on.

One question I am asked alot is about my "social life". I have a very good social life. I attend church, I go to camp every year, and I play sports. I couple of good friends in California that I still keep in touch with.

As for my "school day", I do all the subjects they do in public school. Some support groups have people in them who offer classes. I took Biology and Sign Language last year, and I learned tons. This year I am doing Algebra, and TONS of History.(I luv History!:) I am looking into doing Dual Enrollment next year, which will be my Junior year. That is where I will go to college at the same time I am doing high school. I can get two years of College done at the same time as High School, and it is Free!

I am going to start a part on this page where you can express your thoughts and opinions on homeschooling. There is only one rule, though: No Profanity. I will not post it if it has profanity or other inappropiate stuff. I just ask that you carefully read and think about what I have written, before you insult or attack others and their opinions. When you email me, you must tell me your name, age, and if you want, your homepage URL. And of course your opinions. If you are making a reply to a message already shown, tell me which message it is. The Age and Homepage URL parts are totally optional. Now, you may email me!

Message #1: "I think that homeschooling is great because the teacher can work one-on-one with the kid and they do not have to hear cuss words and all the other garbage of the world all day."

Message #3: "Homeschooling is cool! You can do just as much as public school kids do, but in half the time! (Most of the time.) It's more hands on, and much more user friendly!"

Message #5: "Homeshooling was great for me. I think that it is the best way for a child to learn. You have no fear of your child being shot from fellow classmates and the teacher can work with you one-on-one. Most of all, I was able to tell my teacher I loved her and really mean it.
I am 19 and was homeschooled from the beginning. Even though I am now out of school, I will never forget the special times I spent with my mom learning. You are missing alot if you are not homeschooled."

Message #6: "I have been home schooled all my life. I think it's great because one thing you don't deal with as much temptation as you would deal with in public school. Second thing, is you have your freedom, your parents can help you in things you can't understand, they get to see you grow up with out missing on 3/4 the day. But see if you've been home schooled all your life and had never been in school, it makes you wonder what public school is like. I've never been in a school, so I wonder, I'm not saying I don't like home school, I love it- I have more free time, I'm in grades up to 12 (in a few subjects). I know a lot of kids who I've asked 'If you had a choice between going to school and being home schooled', most of them has said home schooling. People say 'Oh I wish I could home school my kids, but I'm afraid it takes more than just be a mother.' I come from a family of 7 kids, 6 still home, one of the mothers have only 2 kids. It doesn't take more than a mother, it take a child who is willing. People make their own choices, we've made ours We Are Home schooled, and I'm proud of it."
