Music is my life, whether I sing soprano in the choir at school, or play the keyboards and sing in the InterVarsity Christian Fellowship Praise and Worship band. There's something about music that touches the very heart of the soul. This page is dedicated to some of my all time favorite groups:
This lady has been on a hard row down the path of the occult, but she began to see that God really had a plan for her in her life. Once Satan was her life. Now she belongs to Jesus!
I can't say enough about those Legend projects. I have never heard the Apocalypse and the Book of Revelation sound so good! Very Gothic, so be forwarned! I have enclosed an article with some pics for the last concert they did at Elgin, Illinois here.
I'm beginning to like this group a little bit more as I keep listening to some of their pieces. Very gothic and theatrical. Check out their web site. These guys are serious about the Lord in belief as well as their music.
Seventy Sevens Not Gothic, but very good. Excellent guitar playing and vocals by Mike Roe. The best stuff came out of the late 80's, but even some of their newer material is good. It isn't easy to find Christian music from the 80's that sounds good, but this is one of the groups that set the stage for other alternative bands to come later on. The Christianity in the 77's is subtle, but it's there.
Not a Christian or Gothic band, but still fun to listen to, also part of my life as a group I have prayed for since I was nineteen. It's a long story. I'll probaby print it out later on a different site, but time will not allow me to do so at the moment. A band that has been around for at least 20 years, and has been through many things. The directions on their site will probably tell you more than I possibly can at the moment.
Jennifer Knapp Sounds a LOT like Joni Mitchell, but she has some awesome lyrics. Probably one of the better new artists in Christian music today, because she doesn't exactly fit the "trend band" type of mentality. Take time to check her out, and her new CD Kansas.
dc Talk You can say all you want about "trend" bands, but dc Talk has never kept one style for very long. As things change, so does the group. They haven't given up all claims to rap, but you won't find as much as you once did in previous works. Better yet, check out their official site.
Michael Sweet Those of us who remember Stryper will remember Michael Sweet. As a teenager, I used to think Stryper was too loud. Funny how I like things louder as I get older! Well, the glam days are a thing of the past, but for music, and for Michael, but that doesn't mean he's not recording still. Sounds a little more bluesy these days, but still good.
As of today, I have added some new links to my site that are not band web pages. These are actually organizations that support the music scene. If you are familiar with 80's music, the Pro-life music industry, or just like to have fun with anything related to music, here's a few things for you to check out.
