"Brian, why won't you ever let me or Desteny drive?" asked Nick.
"Because you two drive too crazy and I want to live to at least 30," smiled Brian.
It was the next day and Brian, Nick, Desteny and Melody were in Brian's jeep and were driving to Desteny's house. Melody's parents were over there too, waiting for the girls to arrive.
"Turn here," instucted Desteny, pointed to the street for Brian to turn on.
"I know where you live, Dest. I'm not stupid," commented Brian, smiling.
"Are you sure?" asked Desteny and Nick at the same time, laughing.
Melody looked at Brian, laughing. "You walked right into the one." Brian rolled his eyes and nodded, smiling.
"There's my dad and Billy," cried Desteny, pointing to her front yard, where her dad and brother stood.
"There's my parents," said Melody excitedly, waving to her parents, who were also standing on Desteny's front lawn. Brian pulled up to the house and Melody and Desteny were out of the jeep before it even stopped, running up to their families. The next few minutes were full of hugs, kisses and handshakes.
Billy, Desteny's big brother, walked up to Nick. "So, have you been taking good care of my little sister?" he asked, regarding Nick carfully.
Nick smiled. "The best," he repiled. Billy smiled and shook Nick's hand. That was his way of saying that Nick was alright.
Desteny came over and smacked Billy on the head. "I'm not your 'little' sister anymore. I'm a full grown adult," she smiled.
"Yes you are but you're still my little sister forever," replied Billy, as he hugged her.
Everyone walked into Desteny's stone white house.
As Desteny walked inside, she looked at the staircase in front of her which she had fallen down and shuddered. She looked over at Nick and saw him looking at the staircase too, a sad look on his face. She took his hand in her's and smiled. "Be thankful that I'm alive. Don't dwell on the past," she murmered. Nick kissed her and they joined the others in the living room. They started talking about things that had happened in the last 4 years. Desteny then asked a question that she had been dieing to know since she went on the tour. "Have they caught Rachel yet?" she asked quietly. Desteny's and Melody's parents went silent. Mr. Summers cleared his throat.
"No hon, they haven't," he answered quietly.
Desteny sighed. "Ok, just wondering."
Later that night, everyone was still at Desteny's house. They were having a sort-of welcome home party for the girls and the guys. Both of the families had taken Brian and Nick in like family because they each knew that the 4 were meant to be.
After a while, Desteny walked over to her dad.
"Dad, I'm going to run over to the cornor store to get some more munchies ok?" asked Desteny.
"Alright. Don't be too lone," he smiled.
Desteny went over to Melody, Brian and Nick, who were talking with Billy and Melody's mom. "I'm going to the store to get some munchies."
"Let me come. I wanted to see how much Sunship has changed in the last 4 years," said Melody.
"Do you want us to come?" asked Brian.
"No, it's okay, We'll be back in 20 minutes. We won't be very long," said Desteny, giving Nick a kiss.
The girls left and started walking down to the store. It was about a 8 minute walk and it was a nice night so they enjoyed it. During the walk, Desteny & Melody checked out what things were different in the town.
As they passed an alley, Desteny heard someone call her name. "What you say?" Desteny asked Melody.
"I didn't say anything," said Melody, confused.
"Desteny, over here," called a voice in the alley.
Desteny & Melody looked at each other. "Who's there?" called Desteny, taking a step forward towards the alley.
"Come here," said the voice, not revealing who it was.
Despite Melody's protests, Desteny walked into the alley. There, she saw a figure a few feet away from here. "I thought I would never see you again. I thought would never be able to say that I was sorry," said the figure.
"Sorry for what?" asked Desteny, straining to see the person's face. The figure stepped forward into the light & Desteny gasped. "Rachel," said Desteny shaking.
"Hey Dest, how are you?" asked Rachel smiling.
"What are you doing here?" asked Desteny, taking a step back.
Rachel's smile faded. "I wanted to say I'm sorry. I thought that you were in love with A.J., that's why I pushed you down the stairs," explained Rachel, taking a step forward. She sighed. "But it doesn't matter. A.J. never learned to love me, and I've been hunted by the police ever since. I can't even go to my family and I've lost all my friends," she said quietly. Rachel then suddenly smiled. Desteny saw light shine off something in Rachels hand. A gun. Desteny tried to cry out but her voice caught in her throat. "My life will never be the same, thanks to you. But I can make it a bit better," smiled Rachel. She raised the gun and aimed at a frightened Desteny.
"Rachel no," screamed Desteny, holding up her hands.
Rachel pulled the trigger. The sound shattered the air.
"Desteny," screamed Melody, as Desteny fell to the ground.
Rachel, realizing that Melody was there, dropped the gun and ran. As Rachel dropped the gun, she pulled the trigger again. The bullet hit Melody in the arm, causing her to scream.
People near by who had heard the gunshots, ran into the alley. One man ran to Melody, who was kneeling next to Desteny. "Are you girls alright?" he asked.
"No, we've been shot. Please, call an ambulence," sobbed Melody, holding her arm which was bleeding badly. The man yelled to other people to call an ambulence. He noticed that Desteny's stomach, where she had been shot, was bleeding badly. He took off his jacket and pressed it against her stomach.
Desteny gasped as felt a burning sensation in her stomach and the man pressed on it. She saw Melody's face and another man, looking ver worried. Then she saw the flashing lights of the ambulences and then darkness as she passed out from pain.
