Brian, Nick and Desteny walked down the hospital hall as fast as they could to Melody's room, teriffied at what they might find. Brian reached the door first and burst through it and gasped. Nick and Desteny caught up to him and stood behind him, not too surprised. Brian slowly walked over to Melody's bedside, almost in tears at the state she was in.
On the way over from the airport, Desteny and Nick had told Brian a bit about Melody's condition, trying to prepare him. Brian had an image in him mind but this was much worse.
"Melody," he said softly, taking one thin arm. "It's me, Brian."
Desteny sighed and Nick put his arm around her. They walked closer to Melody and Brian. Brian sat down in a chair beside Melody's bed. Melody's eyes were closed and her breathing was shallow. Brian closed his eyes and sighed. "How could I let this happen to you?"
"I think we better go. I need something to drink before I fall asleep right here on my feet," said Desteny. Her shoulders began to sag and her eyes were half-closed.
"Ok, lets go down to the cafiteria. Do you want anything B-Rok?" asked Nick. Brian shook his head, his eyes still closed. Desteny and Nick left the room quietly, leaving Brian with Melody. Brian opened his eyes and tears started to fall down his cheeks.
"Melody, I'm so sorry. I was so stupid to think that breaking up would be the best for you. Please, just wake up," begged Brian, squeezing her hand. Melody's eyelids fluttered but Brian didn't notice. "Melody, I'll never hurt you again. Just please, wake up. I love you. I can't live without you." Brian closed his eyes against the tears.
"I can't live without you either," replied a weak voice.
Brian opened his eyes in surprise to see Melody awake and smiling weakly at him. "Melody, you're awake," cried Brian, relief flooding his heart.
"Of course. I wouldn't miss the chance to see you again," said Melody, squeezing his hand.
"I'm so relieved. I raced down from Lexingtion as soon as I heard that you were sick. To tell you, I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I was SO stupid. Can you ever forgive me?" begged Brian, a puppy look on her face.
"Of course, as long as you promise not to do it again," Melody raised one eyebrow.
Brian smiled. "I promise."
Melody sighed and closed her eyes and was soon asleep, fianlly able to sleep, dreaming good dreams.
A week and a half later, Melody was getting ready to leave the hospital. After Brian had come back, Melody had made an amazing recovery. She started eating again and her head wound healed quickly. The doctors said that he guardian angel must have come. Melody, Nick and Desteny didn't argue with that.
Desteny practicly pranced down to Melody's room with Nick and Brian behind her, chuckling at her excitment. Desteny almost tore down the door, swearing that it would be the last time she would have to open a hospital door to see her friends in the room.
Inside, Melody was just packing the rest of her stuff when her friends came in. She smiled and closed her bag. "I'm ready to leave and I'll make sure that I never come back," she laughed.
"We sure hope so," said Brian, kissing her gentaly, making her smile.
"Come on. Let's get out of here," suggested Nick.
They gathered Melody's stuff, hoping they would never return to the hospital.
"So what do you want to do today?" asked Nick as the four of them walked down main street.
Desteny didn't answer right away. She was looking at the doorway at Stats where she had first met Nick. Desteny sighed. Nick saw where she was looking and put his arm around her shoulder.
"Hey," Nick said. Desteny turned and looked at him in the eyes. "Let's just spend this time together, one minute at a time," said Nick, kissing her softly on the lips.
Brian and Melody shook their heads and walked ahead of the two.
"So is there anything you want to do?" asked Brian.
"i don't care, as long as I'm with you," Melody smiled. Brian smiled back at her. Nick and Desteny caught up to them.
"Let's go swimming down at the beach," suggested Nick. The others agrees. They split up, agreeing to meet at the beach in 15 minutes.
"This has been a pretty good visit," said Brian, staring out at the ocean.
Melody looked at him in disbelif. "Are you talking about this visit?" she asked.
Brian looked at her and laughed. "Well, ok, it had it's rough parts." Melody raised her eyesbrows. "Ok, really rough parts. But it turned out alright at the end."
There was a piercing scream that shattered the air. Melody and Brian turned to the water and saw Desteny grabbing Nick and pulling him into the water where he had just dropped her. Melody and Brian smiled.
"The end." Melody sighed, staring at the ocean. "I wish the end was not so soon."
Brain took her hand and Melody turned and looked him in the eye. He pulled her in close and kissed her. She wrapped her arms around his neck. They were both so involved with each other, they didn't hear two sets of feet coming near. Suddenly, cold water was poured over their heads. They pulled apart and cried out in surprise. They looked up to see Nick and Desteny with smirks on their faces and Desteny was holding an empty bucket.
"Why you little....." said Melody. Before Desteny could run Melody grabbed her legs and brought her down into the sand. Brian did the same to Nick beside Melody.
"Hey, it was just a joke!" cried Desteny, twisting around onto her back.
"It's so funny I forgot to laugh," Melody said sarcasticly.
Melody and Brian let Desteny and Nick up and they brushed the sand off themselves. They they sat down together on the sand looking at the alomost set sun.
Desteny sighed. "I'm going to miss this," she said quietly.
Brian and Nick looked at each other and smiled. "You don't have to," Nick swaid, looking at Desteny.
"What do you mean?" asked Desteny suspisously.
"Your both 18 now, right?" asked Brian. The girls nodded and Brian continued. "So you are now able to make your own desions without your parents making a big fuss, right?" They nodded again.
"What we're trying to say is, do you girls want to join us on tour?" asked Nick, breaking out into a grin.
The girls looked at each other. "You bet you're ass we do," cried Melody happily, throwing her arms around Brian.
Desteny said nothing as she smiled. She slid next to Nick and kissed him like she never kissed him before.
The End
Ok, the story is over now (Duh) but fear not 'cause there is sequel. It's called Fate's Gift. I hope ya like it. It take place 4 years into the future and it's pretty good story if I say so myself.
