As she was running out the door of Stats, Desteny crashed into a tall, blonde, young man wearing a baseball cap backwards and sunglasses who was coming into the store at the same time.
"Ow," he cried as they colided.
Desteny cried out as she fell over backwards onto the ground.
"Oh, I'm so sorry. I wasn't looking where I was going," cried Desteny, as she jumped up and tried to wipe the tears from her eyes, not looking into the young man's eyes.
"Are you alright?" he asked, looking at her, noticing her tears.
"Yes...no, I'm not," sobbed Desteny, breaking down into tears again.
"Here, let me help you to the bench outside." He took Desteny by the arm and led her outside onto a bench. He sat down next to her and looked at her as she sobbed. After a moment, Desteny gathered herself, wiping her tears away and looked at the young man.
"Thank you. I know not many people would have helped me like you. I really appricate," Desteny said sincerly, looking shyly at her hands.
"Hey, no problem. I like to help lovely ladies in trouble. And you were obviouly in trouble," he replied.
Desteny laughed and looked at him again. Something was familer about him but she couldn't be sure.
"Hey, have I met you before. You look a bit familer," she asked the guy. He looked a bit nervous. Desteny shrugged. "Or maybe I'm just going crazy."
"If you don't mind me asking," the guys asked cautiously "What made you so upset? You seemed really upset when you were running out of the store."
Desteny sighed. "I...I lost my boyfriend, John, in a car accident about 2 months ago and a girl in there was saying stuff like he never loved me. Stuff like that. She was his old girlfriend and she was kind of mad when he dumped her for me."
"Ouch, that must of hurt." He put his hand over his heart. "But I can see why she would be so mad but that's no excuse."
"Ya, you got that. By the way, my name is Desteny. Desteny Summers." Desteny smiled and put out her hand.
"I'm Nick." He shook her hand and smiled back at her. "Desteny, that's a beautiful name. So I guess it suits you. A beautiful name for a beautiful girl. Or should I say woman?"
Desteny blushed. "Are you always a lady charmer?" Desteny asked, smiling at Nick.
"Duh, I don't know." Nick crossed his eyes and gave Desteny a goofy look. They laughed together.
"Nicky, where have you been?" asked a voice out of no where.
Nick made a face. "Don't call me Nicky, Howie. You know I hate it."
"That's why I called you it," said a tall, spanish young man who was also wearing sunglasses and a hat. Behind him, three more guys in sunglasses and hats came beside him.
Desteny looked back and forth between the guys suspisously. 'Is this a new kind of fad?' she wondered.
"Guys, this is Desteny. We kind of ran into each other in Stats," explained Nick.
"Literaly," laughed Desteny, blushing.
At that moment, Melody came out of the shop.
"I'm so sorry Desteny that I didn't come out right away. I had to go give that bitch Sandra a piece of my mind and I thought that you would want some time to gather yourself," explained Melody, brushed her short blonde hair out of her blue eyes, not noticing the guys.
"Tut, tut. Such language," replied a cute guy with curly sandy blonde hair, smiling.
Melody looked at the guys, shocked, noticing them for the first time. She looked back at Desteny with a sly smile. "Dest, aren't you going to intoduce me to your new friends?"
Desteny have her a dirty look. "This is Nick and I don't know the other guys," replied Desteny, pointing to Nick.
"I'm Howie," said the one who had called Nick, Nicky.
"I'm A.J.," said another with red hair and a lot of tatoos on his arms, with a flirty smile.
"I'm Brian," said the cute guy who had talked to Melody.
"And I'm Kevin," said the one that looked like the oldest.
Desteny and Melody exchanged looks. The 'Oh-My-Gosh-Can-It-Be-True' look. Desteny spoke up first. "This is going to sound stupid if you guys answer no but," she paused. "Are you guys the Backstreet Boys?"
"Yup," said Nick, looking her in the eye, and taking off his hat and sunglasses to reveal his very familer face..
Melody's mouth dropped open, but she quickly closed it.
"Cool," said Desteny. Nick looked at her funny. "What?" she asked.
"I was expecting you to say a little more than 'cool'. That's all," said Nick, trying not to laugh, as he put on his hat again.
Desteny laughed and replied. "I just don't want to make a fool of myself." Desteny smiled. Everyone laughed.
Melody sat down beside Desteny. "Dest, are you okay now?" she asked softly.
"Ya, I'm okay. I just never want to see that...that cow again." Desteny made a face.
Brian looked at his watch. "Hey," he said. "It's past lunchtime. Have you girls had lunch yet?"
"Nope," she said.
"There's a really good pizza place nearby," Nick suggested, hopfully.
"Yea," said Brian, A.J., Desteny and Melody. Howie and Kevin groaned. Howie turned to Kevin.
"I think we're out numbered," groaned Howie.
"Big time," said Kevin as they were dragged to the Pizza Parlor, down the street.
