Soon, they were all sitting at a picnic table eating burgers and fries.
"That's better," said Dave, after taking a bite of his burger.
Jewel looked at her watch. "Oh man. Summer, we have to get to the contest to get signed in," said Jewel.
"Oh no. What time is it?" she asked.
"Quarter to 2," said Jewel, relaxing.
"We have about 15 minutes until the contest starts. I'll just run down and sign us up right now," said Jewel.
"Ok. You run faster anyways," joked Summer. With that, Jewel took off.
"Will you please explain to me what contest you two are talking about," said Clint, looking totally confused.
"Oh, sorry. The Karioki Contest. Last year, me and Jewel entered the contest and we won. Of course, the champs have to come back and defend out title," explained Summer proudly.
"A Karioki Contest? Cool. What's the prize?" asked Scott.
"Well, last year the prize for the 17 and younger group was a plane trip to anywhere in the world," said Summer. "Me and Jewel went to Orlando to DisneyWorld."
"Wow! That's a good prize," said Dave, amazed.
"Ya, no kidding," said Summer smiling.
"So what's the deal? You just go and sign up?" asked Bob.
"Well, you have to sign up early or else you won't get in. It's pretty popular. We signed up when it opened. Now Jewel's just going to get our numbers and song ready," said Summer, eating her lunch.
"All done," said Jewel, coming up and sitting down at her seat. She handed Summer a sign with the number 13 on it. "These are our numbers. We're second to last," explained Jewel.
"Good position," said Summer, looking at the card.
"We'll have to come and watch you girls," smiled Clint.
"You bet you bottoms youwill," said Jewel, smilng back at him.
"We could use your profetional guidence," joked Summer.
"But of course," joked Dave.
They quickly finished their lunch and went off to a stage by an enterence to the park. They all sat down and waited for 2 o'clock to roll around. They didn't have long to wait.
"Good day ladies and gentalmen. Welcome to the 7th annual Kerioki Contest. We have two prizes for the winners of each of the winners of the two catigories. To West Edmonton Mall and to Toronto. Now let the contest begin," said the announcer.
Everyond borke into cheers and the contest began.
