The next day, at about ten to 10, the girls were throwing last minute things in the backpack. They had just heard the weather report, and it was sunny and warm out and it was going to stay that way all day and all night.
"I still can't believe they didn't tell us," said Summer.
"What? Who?" asked Jewel, stuffing her and Summer's light jackets in the backpack.
"The guys. They didn't tell us they were in a band," said Summer, putting sun screen on her arms.
The girls had seen the guys on T.V. last night. They were on MuchMusic. Telling by all the screaming fans, they were pretty popular.
"It doesn't change how I'm going to treat them though," said Jewel, doing up her backpack.
"Me neither, but admit it, it's pretty cool," smiled Summer.
Jewel just laughed and nodded her head. "Gimmie some of the that sun screen," she said, grabbing the sun screen from Summer.
A few minutes later, the girls jumped down the steps. They jogged across the lawn and jumped up the steps to the guys house. They rang the doorbell and Dave opened it up. "Girls, why are they never on time?" he asked, a gleam in his eye.
"What? Did you lose some brain cells during the night? We said 10 o'clock and here we are," said Jewel, hands on her hips.
"It's 10:02. Your two minutes late. I thought you weren't coming," said Dave, smiling.
Summer punched him lightly on the arm. Dave moved out the door so they could come in.
"So where's Bob, Clint and Scott?" asked Summer.
Dave rolled his eyes. "Still getting ready," he replied.
Just then, the rest of the guys came running down the stairs.
"Hey Summer, Jewel," said Clint, thumping down the stairs.
"Where's the herd of elephants I heard come down the stairs?" asked Jewel.
"Ha ha. Very Funny, Jewel," said Clint sarcasticly.
"My dad's waiting outside, so get your butts moving," said Jewel.
"Yes mammn," said Scott, as he saluted. Scott grabbed a backpack as did Bob and they all ran out the door into Jewel's van. Jewel got shot gun. Summer and Scott sat in the back and Clint, Bob and Dave sat behind them.
"So exsactly how much has the Stampede changed since we were there?" asked Bob.
"Well, when was the last time you were there?" asked Jewel, turning around to look at him.
"About 5 years ago," said Dave.
Summer and Jewel burst out laughing. "Changed since then? You bet it has. Good thing we have half an hour to show you around," laughed Summer.
"I didn't think it had changed that much," said Clint.
"It has. Trust me," said Jewel.
For the rest of the way there, the girls told them some of the stuff that had changed. When they got there, they jumped out of the van.
"Now be carful. Set up a meeting place in case you get sperated. But stay together," warned Jewel's dad.
Jewel assured him they would be fine, and he left. Jewel rolled her eyes. "He's really protective of me," she explained.
They went to the gate, paied their addmittion and got their unlimited ride passes.
A few minutes later, they were standing in the middle of the park, deciding where to meet.
"Ok, if we do get seperated, go to the clock tower right away," said Summer.
Scott looked around. "Where is the clock tower?" he asked. Jewel smiled and pointed behind him.
The guys all looked to where she was pointing. They looked up, way up. They were standing underneath the biggest clock tower they had seen in a long time.
"Kewl. It's like a sky scrapper," said Clint, leaning back to look up at it.
"It's really easy to find, so you won't really get too lost," said Summer.
For the next 25 minutes, the girls gave the guys a quick tour of the Stampede.
At 11, the rides opened.
"So which ride first?" asked Jewel.
Summer smiled with a gleam in her eyes. "We should take them to the Elvira ride," suggested Summer.
Jewel's eyes lit up. "Yeah," she said.
"Woh, what's the Elvira ride?" asked Bob, holding up his hands.
Jewel smiled evily. "Wait and see," she said. She grabbed his hand and dragged him a little bit across the park.
Soon they were in front of a dark ride behind a screen.
"What is this ride?" asked DAve.
"Wait and see," said Summer mysterisouly.
A minute later, the door opened. They walked in and saw some big seats slightly leaned back in a small room in front of a screen. They sat down in the front row. Summer and Scott sat next to each other, as did Jewel and Dave and Clint sat on the other side of Jewel while Bob sat on the other side of Summer. Dave looked at the seat belts and hand rails. "What kind of ride is this?" he asked, a bit worried.
Jewel sat down and snapped the seat belt on. "Just wait and you'll find out," she said slyly.
