After escaping to a toy factory, a wounded murderer, Charles Lee Ray, puts his soul into a "Good Guy" doll right before he dies. He then ends up trapped inside the doll, calling himself Chucky. After killing the Good Guy executive who has taken him home, Chucky ends up with a little boy named Andy. Chucky needs to transfer his soul into a human, so he decides to use Andy. Chucky begins killing people, including Andy's babysitter and mother. Andy and his mom, with the help of a policeman, "kill" Chucky. In the sequal, Andy is sent to live with a foster home. He is scared of the Good Guy dolls, but when Chucky is fixed by the Good Guy scientists, he has himself sent to Andy. He causes trouble between Andy and his new family. Andy and his foster sister lead Chucky to the Good Guy factory, where Chucky is finally melted. The "Good Guys" factory is closed down. Several years later, the "Good Guy" factory opens up again and the first doll made is the doll with Chucky in it. Chucky finds his way to Andy, which by then is a teenager and at a military school. The entire time, 1-3rd, Chucky is trying to get out of the doll and into a better body. In the 3rd Chucky, he fianlly gives up trying to take over Andy and goes for a younger kid that also attends the same military school. In the end, Chucky is dropped into a fan and split into millions of Chucky-parts. There has also been a new Chucky move, Bride of Chucky, in which he is sewn back together by his ex-girlfriend. He kills her and makes her into a doll, so it ends up that they also go off looking for new bodies.
