Blythe is a small town on the Colorado River and along side Interstate 10 in the green Palo Verde Valley. The valley is green and fertile because it is irrigated by the Colorado River. Blythe boasts of a population over 21,000. However, half of those people are incarcerated in two prisons 15 miles away from the main city. The state legislature passed a special law which allowed Blythe to annex the two prisons into the city limits so there are actually two city limits 15 miles apart.
There are many advantages to working for the Palo Verde School District and living in Blythe. The winters are warm and outdoor activities such as golf, hiking, cycling, camping, fishing, etc. can be undertaken all year around. Boating, skiing, fishing, and swimming are popular pass times on the river.
Areas of interest are Laughlin, Lake Havasu, Yuma, Palm Springs, the Colorado River, and the Sand Dunes. Mexico is not far away for those who want to go south of the border.
The crime rate is low, the skies are clear, and the people are friendly.
