Subject: [American_Indian_WebMasters] BOYCOTT THE NAMMYS (NAMA, www.nammys.com)

Since it's inception NAMA, the Native American Music Awards, has accepted the nomination of people for awards as American Indian artists who have no proof of American Indian heritage or tribal affiliation.

Some of these people have used such nominations to insinuate that they are accepted as and are Indian people of heritage.

What can YOU do?

1. Demand that any entertainer stating that they are a NAMMYS (NAMA) nominee provide proof of state or Federal tribal membership of CDIB from the DOI before hiring them as an American Indian entertainer.

2. Refuse to vote for nominees.

3. American Indian nominees and the general public should boycott the NAMMY awards ceremonies.

4. Tribal members should have their tribal offices, especially the Cherokee and Lakota Nations, send e-mail to BelloEllen@aol.com and to nammys@aol.com to state their disapproval with the nomination process.

5. NAMA has refused to provide the names of their Board of Directors and their tribal affiliations. You should ask that NAMA post the names and biographies of their Board of Directors on their website.

Thank you for your concern.
