review

My So-Called Movie reviews (I haven't seen very many, but soon to come will be my reviews for Suicide Kings, Small Soldiers, and Paulie.

Jerry Maguire:
Well, let me just say, all in all, I love this movie. And of course, Tom Cruise was excellent. But, honestly, I thought Jay did a great job. Here is an incredibly funny guy, who can't help but make a joke out of everything, playing a........alright, I'll just say it. Bob Sugar was a gigantic asshole. And Jay played him all to well. (kidding) No, I really liked him in the movie. The way my attention goes, of course, the first thing I noticed was how cute he was. I didn't recognize him from Lip Service (like I said, I watched that show when i was 9) but that just proves that I really do like him. I already had liked him and I didn't even know it.
Note to self: Try to make more sense.

Picture Perfect

Ummmm...well, I have to say, this movie is not for the obsessive-minded. In my case, anyway. I mean, I liked Jay before I saw this movie, but it really did me in. (begrudgingly, I admit here that I don't remember the details of the movie all that well.) What I do remember is that Jay played a sweetie, a big sweetie. he plays a wedding filmographer, I think thats the word....whatever. He tapes weddings for a living. And he meets Jennifer Aniston's character while taping her congatulations to the couple. It was definetly not love at first sight. So anyway, she is having trouble getting a promotion because she isn't married, which makes her boss think that she is going nowhere. And she wants a guy (Kevin Bacon) to like her. So she does the logical thing. She see's Jay on the news because he rescued some kid or something, remembers him, and calls him, and proposes a deal to him. He pretends to be her boyfriend (maybe it's fiance') for some money, don't ask me the amount) any way, with tons of funny and cute stuff and her scoring with Kevin Bacon and him turning out to be an asshole, and a great scene when Jay is talking to her mother on the phone (the best part. it is so sweet. almost made me cry), they end up together, but you won't think they will. And while I'm a big fan of Jennifer Aniston, Jay Mohr is the highlight of the movie. And you can become obsessed by watching it.
I amnot kidding. If you think I am, take a good look at this page. I saw this movie 2 months ago.

Mafia!

Well, I saw it the day after it came out, and let me tell you, it was great. I was laughing my ass off through the whole movie, while it was a little typical (OJ jokes, a Monica Lewinsky joke, that sort off thing) it was an awesome movie. Jay's character Anthony is actually very serious, not exactly trying to be funny. I left the theater thinking Jay would be a great dramatic actor.
But thats not what we're here for. This movie is seriously funny. And don't trust Jay. He claims it's a spoof of The Godfather but it isn't. It's a spoof on that, Casino and Forrest Gump of all movies, and of course, Christina Appelgate plays the president. Not making sense? Neither does the movie. Here's what I am trying to say--It is a must-see movie for any Jay fan. It was worth my six bucks. I would have payed more, actually.
I especially loved the credits. First thing was a dedication to the late Lloyd Bridges, who passed away a few months ago. Then came the fun stuff, all the little silly things that any spoof holds, including a claim in the animal rights disclaimer that they ate the donkey at the wrap party. (We are talking THE donkey. If you've seen it, you know THE donkey.)my rating: on a scale of 1 to 10, I give it a 13, 9 just because Jay's in it.
