Steinbeck's Church

John Steinbeck attended St. Paul's Episcopal Church as a boy. It was originally located several blocks from his house which is now downtown Salinas. He served as an acolyte, or altar boy, and choir member. There is a story about Steinbeck dropping a cross onto a visiting bishop's head and losing his head acolyte privilages.
