Loosen Code a Little

By Leslie Dizon

I don’t think that dress code should be completely forgotten about, but I think it should be at least loosened a little bit. If the student hasn’t done anything that bad, and hasn’t gotten into any fights, then what’s the problem? The only dress code I think is reasonable is one that does not permit gothic or evil clothes. Why would you be going to L.A. Lutheran if you dress that way?

Another thing about dress code is that its pretty hard to find clothes in dress code. Where would you actually find a sweater with the logo which is in dress code? Not many sweaters are made like that. Most logos on clothes are huge. The same thing goes with pictures. If you have a picture of a harmless, little butterfly, would you actually have a logo tag on the back that says "butterfly?" I don’t think so! If you have an in-dress code shirt, why do you have to raise your arms up? If no skin is showing when you wear it, then there’s no problem. You’re in dress code! There’s no need to put your arms up.

Next year, I think they should loosen the dress code a little. It might not work out that way, but as long as we don’t get uniforms, I’m happy.
