Closer To God, One Heart At A Time
By Frank Borros
Picture this, you’re walking up to Edison Field, not to go to a game but to see the "Harvest Crusade" (that is a concert where thousands of Christians every year go see cool bands and hear a great message about God.) So you find a seat and you’re thinking, "what is this?" So your seat is at the top of the stands. You cannot see but you can hear everything. Now after the bands are done playing you hear someone say, in a loud, deep voice, "everyone who wants to pronounce their faith get on the field." So in an odd way you walk down on to the field. On the way down to the field you start to think about God and whether or not you are a strong Christian. On the field you are praying with Thousands and thousands of other Christians and all of a sudden a feeling of NO fears or pain or guilt comes over you! BAM!!! You feel great. When leaving the field you walk to the car and you see these two guys and these two girls. They start to tell you about the Lord and what He can do for you!
Purpose, Meaning, a reason for living- these are all things we desire and search for in life. Despite steps each one of us takes to find a purpose and meaning in life, we still feel empty and unfulfilled. That is because there is a spiritual emptiness in each of our lives. We each have a hole in our heart, a spiritual vacuum deep within our soul- a God shaped blank. There is only one way to effectively fill that void. This way will not only help us to have a life that is full and rich on this earth, but- more important- will give us absolute hope of spending eternity in the presence of God. But before we can truly appreciate this good news, we need to understand the bad news, which is a serious problem we all have, which is SIN.
"When a person truly comes to Jesus Christ, this relationship will dramatically transform his or her life. We may see this transformation more immediately in the lives of some than others." You should go to God. He wants to help in your lives. And when you know Him, it feels so right, He helps with school, things outside of school, He protects you from your enemies and Satan. He has shown this in my life for sure. One noticeable change that takes place in a new believer’s life is the inner joy he or she receives. Once you receive Jesus Christ into your life as a personal Lord and Savior, not only do you obtain the privileged gift of eternal life, but you immediately acquire a great responsibility!
