Mr. Bauer’s Big Be-Bopping 25th Anniversary

By: Coree Bardoner

This year is a special tribute to Mr. Bauer for his 25 years of success and dedication in teaching. Mr. Bauer has taught at St. Paul’s First Lutheran for 11 years and this year is his 14th year as a teacher at L.A. Lutheran JR/SR High School.

Mr. Bauer is currently an English Gold teacher and he is also the head supervisor of the Music Department. To describe, he is the Pride Marching Band director, Cub director, and the Choir director. Not only does Mr. Bauer direct music, he also plays the trombone, and he is always playing "gigs" with other musicians.

Mr. Bauer has been playing the trombone since childhood.

"My high school band director inspired me to become a music teacher," stated Mr. Bauer.

Many students in the music department have learned a lot from Mr. Bauer.

"Basically I’ve learned everything from him, I’ve played for seven years and everything I’ve ever learned has been from him. I’ve learned theory, sub division, and most of all I’ve learned the appreciation for the work put into teaching and playing," said Alia Dickerson.

"Sarcasm and Clinton jokes is what I’ve learned! Seriously, I’ve learned how to play the Baritone Saxophone and how to do a prop spin. I’ve learned leadership skills and how to be serious while joking at the same time," this was the comment made by Jamie Snyder, the Drum Major.

"Mr. Bauer has taught me a lot. I have never been involved in music before attending L.A. Lutheran. Mr. Bauer has brought me to where I am today in understanding music and composition. He is truly an inspiration to the world of music," stated Stacie Johnson.

In his 25 years of teaching, Mr. Bauer has dedicated his time to try to make every student the best they can be. He has taught many students how to be great musicians from scratch and most of all he has been an inspiration to many. Congratulations!!
