Chapter 21 - Back To Normal

"I don't need a wheelchair! I can walk perfectly fine! How do you think I got away from the warehouse?" I whined as Peggy tried to get me into the wheelchair.

If you hadn't figured it out by now, Korin and I were making it our personal mission to make that nurse's job as much hell as possible. So far, I think we were doing a pretty good job.

"Miss, get in the wheelchair right now," she demanded.

"Make me," I snapped.

"Young lady, get in there now!"

"Um, hello, I'm 22. You can't exactly tell me what to do."

"Watch me!"

"No!"

I heard snickering and looked up to see my boyfriend desperately trying to hold in his laughter.

"What exactly about this do you find so funny?" I demanded.

"N-n-nothing," Brian stammered, covering his mouth with his hand in attempt to hide how amused he was with this little event.

I rolled my eyes. "Stop laughing and help me out here!" I whined.

"Kristy, I love you, but please, just get into the wheelchair," he said through laughter.

"But-" I started.

"Just do it," he interrupted.

Sighing, I obeyed. Brian is pretty much the only person I actually listen to.

Peggy pushed the wheelchair into the elevator and Brian followed. Knowing that this would be my last few minutes with the nurse, I decided to give her a hassle.

"Oh, Peggy, they just paged you," I said. Brian shot me a confused look, which I returned with a wink. He leaned against the elevator wall, rolling his eyes.

"What? I didn't hear anything," Peggy replied, an alarmed tone in her voice.

"Yeah, they said something about a very urgent call from your sister," I continued, trying to keep a smirk off my face. I didn't really know if she had a sister; I was simply guessing. I guessed right.

"What? Oh god. It must be something bad about the family if she's calling me at work!" Peggy exclaimed, panicking.

"Guess so," I replied, biting my lower lip to keep from smiling. The elevator stopped and the doors opened. "Oh, I was wrong. It was for another nurse. Sorry," I said casually.

If there hadn't been a little law against assault, I swear she would have attacked right then and there. But, thankfully for my sake, there was one. The look on her face was SO funny, though. Priceless.

She grabbed a nurse on the floor and dragged her over to my wheelchair. "You take the little bitch," she muttered and stormed away.

I smiled victoriously, satisfied. I noticed Kori's wheelchair being pushed near me. She had heard Peggy's comments and was laughing her head off.

"What did you do to her?" Kori asked.

"Oh, nothing," I smiled innocently.

"Liar!"

"Ok, ok." I explained what I'd done, causing Korin to crack up.

"You go girl!" she exclaimed, giving me a high-five.

"Do you girls wanna get out of here or not?" AJ interrupted.

"YES!" we yelled.

"Ok, then shut up!" Brian said.

We rolled our eyes as the nurses pushed us out to Brian's car. I sat in the front with him, and Korin and AJ sat in the back. We spent the entire ride joking around and singing along (rather loudly, might I add) to oldies songs. We got back to the hotel and the 4 of us, along with Elissa, Alta, Karen, Kevin, Howie, and Nick, hung out and messed around, like old times. It was almost like everything was back to normal. Almost. It was just a matter of ignoring that sickening feeling in my stomach.

"So, we need to make some decisions about the tour," Donna said.

It was the next day, and we all (meaning BSB, Illusion, and our managers) were in a meeting to discuss what we were going to do about the tour.

"What about it?" Elissa asked.

"Well, are we going to continue it-" Albert started.

"YES!" Korin and I exclaimed, cutting in.

He glared at us. "And when we'll start up again," he finished.

We all exchanged looks.

"Well, we're continuing it, right?" Donna asked.

Both groups nodded heavily.

"Ok, so, how about we start up in a week? That will give the girls some time off to recuperate and we won't have to postpone to many dates," Donna said.

"That sounds good," I said.

Everyone else agreed.

"Ok, so that's settled. Oh, and there's one more thing. From now on, Illusion will need bodyguards at all times," Albert stated.

"WHAT?!?!" we exclaimed.

"You will have 5, one for each of you, and you will not be allowed to go in public without one, even if it's simply to take a walk around the block. You will also have to make sure you tell me where you're going to be at all times," he finished.

The girls and I exchanged shocked looks.

"But that's not fair!" Karen exclaimed.

"Tough. Welcome to stardom. You all may go now," Donna said.

We walked out of the conference room, in shock that we would need bodyguards.

"This sucks!" Elissa said.

I rolled my eyes. "Think, Liss, think. We're famous! This is our dream! There's just pros and cons to everything, and this is a little con, compared to a bunch of huge pros!" I explained.

Now it was my groupmates' turn to roll their eyes.

"And you WOULD be the optimistic one," Kori said.

I just shrugged. "Whatever. Hey, let's go find a Starbucks and talk over mochas! We haven't done that in forever!" I said.

Their eyes lit up.

"That's a great idea!" Korin said.

"Yeah, and we might as well enjoy our last day of freedom!" Alta agreed.

Talking and laughing, we walked out of the hotel in search of one of life's necessities - coffee.
