"This is Kevin's place." Josh announced.
"I thought we were goin' to Scott's place." Brian said.
"Shh!" Josh ordered. he knocked on the door.
As the door opened, Brian recognized the man standing behind it, and it wasn't Kevin or Scott, however, he couldn't place his name. "You brought him here?" He stated.
"Yeah, you remember the drill?" Josh replied.
"Of course," The man looked at Brian with brown eyes. "Follow me," he led them inside the house. "Josh, it was really nice known' ya, but you know you were followed, right?" The man said in a hushed voice.
"Yeah, as soon as I'm made myself know, I'll be dead." Josh turned to Brian. "Take these." He handed Brian a large envelope. This has what you need in it." Then he whispered, "The other was a decoy."
"Com'on, we must move quickly!" The man ushered the two other men to a small back room. He pushed aside a large bookshelf. "Ever read 'The Diary of Anne Frank'?" He asked Brian. Brian nodded his head. "Well, tonight, you're gonna have your own experience of that." He gestured to the two men, "Follow me, and close the door Josh."
"What's your name?" Brian asked meekly.
"He speaks!" The man joked. "Actually, it's Alan."
"Oh, I remember now," Brian's voice was still small. All this was extremely overwhelming for him. He felt like a lost, scared child in a big city.
"Ok, Josh, you go to the right, we'll head left." Alan announced as they came to a split section in a hallway.
"Ok," Josh turned to Brian, "It was a pleasure. I hope you make it through everything. and if you're anything like your mother, you will."
"You knew my mother?!" Brian exclaimed.
Alan cupped his hand over Brian's moth, "QUIET!" he whispered in a hushed, but meaningful voice.
"Yes, she was a brave, strong woman. I wish the best of luck to you." With that, Josh turned on his heels and walked into the hall. Brian watched after him as the dark enveloped him.
