"This is just great!" AJ complained as he paced across the holding cell. He looked at Kevin, "You and your dumb ideas!"
"ME?! I didn't see YOU come up with anything!" Kevin shot back.
"Calm down Alexander." Howie soothed from the other side of the wall. "They are taking us to Hungta, and that's where we need to be."
"But they have the medallion!" AJ exasperated.
"BUT they don't have the key. I told you that there are four keys to open the door. There is actually five, the final is in two pieces and it is the actual key. They don't have that piece. And we need to get there because of young Aaron's status. If we don't get him to the unrefined power, he could die." Howie explained.
Nick hugged his little brother closer. "How will that save him?"
"Everyone will need to hear this because there is a lot you don't know." Howie said.
AJ banged on the wall and shouted, "Everyone listen up!"
"It isn't secure to talk about it here though." Howie stated.
"But...." AJ was at a loss for words.
"Remember what I told you about patience Alex?" Howie warned. AJ grumbled something inaudible. 'I never said I couldn't tell you this way. Guys it's going to seem weird if they are monitoring us and we're not talking, so pretend to sleep and they won't know.' The group began to get situated. After several minutes, they mumbled "Good-night" to each other and pretended to fall asleep.
Howie began the explanation. 'Kevin, I know you know how to send messages from your mind, and Brian I know you've had dreams about Aaron. Let me explain. Everyone knows there are four protectors. Two of them were granted immortality so they could guard the evil's gate. 'After several thousands of years, one of them got married and had one child. When that child was a baby, the protector was caught in the cross- hairs of a Royal ship and was killed. The man was granted immortality, but in cases like that, he could not escape death.
'The child's mother was killed a few moths later in a raid. The child was sent to live with his grandparents. The grandparents were also raising another little boy, and the child was told it was his older brother.' AJ gulped as he realized what Howie was talking about. 'Once his 'older brother' was killed, I met this young man. The galaxy knows him as Alemc. Alex, most of your skill comes from natural genes you inherited from your father.
'Brian and Kevin, you two are both descended from a protector. That's why Kevin can read minds and Brian can... how can I say this, predict the present and future. You both have something special as well. Although it's not visible to the public, you both have a necklace of sorts. Kevin, I believe yours is like the top portion of a cross. You probably noticed the thin slit that goes through the thing. Brian, yours is a narrow strip of a special medal with a knob of sorts at the top. You two hold the final, and fifth key. Brian, your medal piece slips through Kevin's and it resembles a sword. Kevin's piece being a fancy hilt and Brian's being the blade. That is the actual KEY that goes in the doorway to unlock the evil.
'Brian, years ago, you were taken captive in a raid, that piece is the reason they didn't kill you. But they don't know Kevin has the other piece. They kept you and let you keep the necklace because they knew that you knew the person who had the other piece.
'Now, Nick, Angel and Aaron, here is your part of the tale. You three are not descended from any protectors, but there is something in your bloodline that links you to the power. Unfortunately, Nick, you are just a carrier because this can only be accessed by twins. One twin has his own type of power when the universe's power is absent. The other twin gets more powerful as the universe's power gets closer. However the downside is that the twin that works better without the power gets sicker as the power comes closer. Ironically the power is the only way to save him. You may have noticed Angel acting a little bolder lately and Aaron has obviously been getting sicker. The only way to save Aaron is to put him in the un-filtered power. He can not withstand the power by himself in this state. The only one who can withstand the power is Angel. She has to be holding Aaron as the power hits him. I'm not sure exactly how this works, but that's what needs to be done. There, I think I explained everything.' Howie finished.
The group took a minute to soak in everything they had just been told. It was Kevin who found his "voice" first. 'Who are you then. How do you know all this?'
'Because I am the final remaining protector.' Howie replied.
