Chapter 7

AJ followed Kevin down a long corridor to the computer bay. Kevin led him in. It was surprisingly empty. Kevin keyed to code so the camera or the hidden mics shouldn't pick up that there were in a restricted area. "How do you know the codes?"

"You think this is the first time I've done this?" Kevin asked as if he was stupid. "When I first got there, I looked for my cousin and as others came, I helped them as well. I just never found my escape from this place though."

"Oh," AJ looked at the consul before him, "We're clear now."

"Ok, I wired it so it taped the last minute of no one in here and it's just playing it over and over again." Kevin put down the tools he drew from his belt. "However, hacking isn't something I'm strong in. I always came here with another friend, but unfortunately, he was killed not to long ago, so get to work." AJ began typing quickly. In a matter of seconds he had accessed the main computer's top secret information.

"How did you do that?" Kevin looked wide eyed at AJ.

AJ beamed, "I told you I was a master hacker."

"Who are you really?" Kevin looked suspicious.

"The Royals know me as Alemc. YOU however can call me AJ."

Kevin staggered back a second. Alemc, or AJ as he preferred, was known throughout the galaxy as a master smuggler and gangster, a 'leader of the underworld,' as the Royals called him. Each time the Royals thought they had him, he would slip through their fingers. Some men admired him, others wanted him dead. Kevin however, was neutral on that topic. Kevin became curious at what AJ wanted planetside.

"What do you want here?" he found his voice.

"Lets just say I'm on a mission to save the galaxy. Some guys gave me a lift here, and I can't bail on 'em now." AJ replied seriously. "Look, you may know me by repetition, but once I give me word, I don't back down. Besides, although they don't know it, I need their help."

Kevin nodded. "Who are you looking for?"

"I don't exactly know. I only know their names, not Royal names. Is there a place I can access who's been brought in?" AJ responded.

"Yeah," Kevin began typing and a list came up.

"There are two men here with no names. But there are descriptions and stats."

"Let me see," AJ looked at the monitor and read their files. "That's them."

"Well, they're in block 284 and cell number 82647. Care to go pick 'em up?" Kevin looked at AJ.

"We can't. We'll have to get help and then come back." AJ answered.

"Why?" Kevin was confused.

"Because I know someone who can help us a great deal," AJ smiled, making Kevin wonder what he was thinking.

"Brian!" Nick called out as they brought Brian's limp form back into the cell.

"Move!" A guard pushed Nick back into the wall. His body went limp as he smacked into the wall. As Nick slumped to the floor, he felt a pair of strong hands pick him up and laid him on a stone slab that was meant to be a bed. He faintly heard the men exit before darkness consumed him.

Amidala looked at the communication's screen. Leiwa, one the commanders of a fleet of ships, as well as one of the Royals top officials, was on the other line. "We got word of the ship you were looking for, and when it emerged from hyperspace, pirates started attacking them. However, in the mists of the battle, we managed to apprehend the ship." Leiwa stated.

"And the medallion?" Amidala questioned.

"Two men were found, along with the cargo. No man matching the description was found, nor was there any trace of the medallion my lady." Leiwa reported.

"Nothing?"

"No, however, our cameras managed to catch a glimpse of something, we can't figure out what it is though. A man, who was in the pilot's ready room. he broke into a locker and stole something. We couldn't get a glimpse of what or his face. I'm assuming that it was the man who stole it to begin with. The other two, whom we have no identifications for, don't have anything on them. We are holding them until further notice." Leiwa explained.

Amidala sighed. "Very well then. I'll make my way there, expect me in 0700 hours." she clicked off and went to prepare for her journey.
