My Review of Significant Other
Ever since I got this CD I've been listening to it nonstop! It's a GREAT album - I would recommend it to anyone. It has some really good songs on it - I like Just Like This, Rearranged, and Don't Go Off Wandering best. Limp is actually the group that converted me from anti-rocker to rocker - I loved their music from the first time I heard it, and now I'm a huge Limp fan, along with some other rock bands. Significant Other is their best work yet in my opinion. The first single off it is Nookie, which is dirty yet a good song. Fred Durst wrote the lyrics for the entire album. Limp is joined by a few big names on this album - Jonathan Davis of Korn and Scott Weiland on Nobody Like You and Method Man on N 2 Gether Now. For those of you younger people, you might wanna get Mommy and Daddy's permission before getting this CD - it's got a Parental Advisory warning on it, and after listening to it I can definitely see why - there's a LOT of heavy cussing and some explicit stuff. But it's definitely worth it.
Sample Lyrics:
Rearranged
Lately I've been skeptical
Silent when I would used to speak
Distant from all around me
Who witness me fail and become weak
Life is overwhelming
Heavy is the head that wears the crown
I'd love to be the one to disappoint you when I don't fall down
But you don't understand when I'm attempting to explain
Because you know it all and I guess things will never change
But you might need my hand when falling in your hole
Your disposition I'll remember when I'm letting go of
You and me
We're through
And rearranged
It seems that you're not satisfied
There's too much on your mind
So you leave and I can't believe all the bullshit that I find
Life is overwhelming
Heavy is the head that wears the crown
I'd love to be the one to disappoint you when I don't fall down
But you don't understand when I'm attempting to explain
Because you know it all and I guess things will never change
But you might need my hand when falling in your hole
Your disposition I'll remember when I'm letting go of
You and me
We're through
And rearranged
You're no good
For me
Thank God its over
You make believe
That nothing is wrong until you're cryin'
You make believe
Life is so long until you're dyin'
You make believe
That nothing is wrong until you're cryin'
Cryin' on me
You make believe
That life is so long until you're dyin',
dyin' on me!
You think everybody's the same
I don't think that anybody's like you
You ruin everything and you kept fuckin' with me until its over and I won't be the same
Why I Like Them
Oh yay, you get to hear me speak my mind now! I love Limp for several reasons. Well, the first one is obvious - the actual music. I'm not sure exactly why, but I just love it. You gotta get the CD to see what I mean. I also love the fact that they write their own music. I've always held a lot of respect for artists that write their own stuff, maily because I write all my own music, and I know that it takes a lot of courage to do that, because you aren't just singing or playing someone else's music, you're singing or playing something that came directly from your heart, and that can be scary. Fred Durst has some great quotes in his Thank Yous and in another section in the album (you can see a few of my favs in the Quotes & Thoughts section) about expressing himself - I really admire him for that. Also, it doesn't hurt anything that Fred happens to be hot, does it?
