Hot Tears

This short story was written by Emily.

The ghastly white limp girl lay unconscious on a hospital bed on some odd Tuesday. Her life was slipping and she saw the light. Have you ever sat out side on a scorching summer day and found yourself look at the sun? It hurts your eyes yet you don't want to look away from the miraculous light. That's what it looked like. The light between life and death. The light that Emily Rose Wilder was coming upon. She could feel her hand being held. And in fact it was.

"Please don't go. I never should have driven that car. I never should have had that last drink. I should have listened to you." AJ McLean was kneeling next to the white bed with his friend and lover's hand in his. He felt as long as he held on to her soft white hand she would never leave him.

Emily half dead used the last of her life to say her finally words, "Never say your sorry," her voice was shaky and soft as she opened her eyes slightly, "I will always love you in this life and the next." with that last word spoke, that last breath breathed, and that last blink blinked she fell to the light. She never heard AJ's answer. It was only a blur of words and sounds mixed in a solid noise that would last forever.

A small tear fell from AJ's eye for he knew she had pasted on, "Honey, I will always love you. No one will replace you and I will never forget you." He pulled out a small velvet box from his pocket and looked at it, "I was going to propose to you." He opened the box, "You were to be my wife." He took out the small silver ring with a green/yellow diamond in the shape of a heart, "You always said you liked silver more than gold," he gave a faint smile at that, "And with your favorite color being green and mine yellow, it would be perfect." He held it a second and took her hand once more. Spreading her cold limp fingers. He slid it onto her ring finger. He whispered to himself, "I do." Then he kissed her soft lips. His last kiss.

Shortly after a nurse came in the room, "I understand" is all she said in a quiet voice. All AJ did was look at her. Deep into her eyes to see if she really understood. He knew she did. The nurse took out her brown clip board, "I'm sorry to be doing this...What's her name?" She asked.

"Emily Rose W--" AJ hesitated, "McLean. Emily Rose McLean." He had to hold back the hot tears.

Only he couldn't at what the nurse read from her clip board, "Emily Rose Mclean, deceased at 2:21 am on Tuesday May 25, 1999." The hot tears rushed from AJ's eyes. He cover his face and sat on the chair next to her bed. He couldn't bare to look at her. His love, his life his shooting star he always wished for, dead before his very own eyes.

Two months later he found himself speaking infront of two hundred friends, family, co-workers doctors, teachers and past friends of Emily. The dreadful day had come that everybody needed to except the death of their beloved Emily Rose Wilder. "Friends, Family, and many more, we have all lost a wonderful and caring person on that fateful day two months ago. Emily Rose Wilder has meant everything to me. I don't know how I can describe the feeling of waking up every morning knowing some one loves you. I suppose she has gone to better place now. A place she can live her dream. And I place I will meet with her one day. I know she is looking down at us and smiling. I just want to say, Baby, I will always love you. For now and forever." By this time his tears had taken over his once dry face. Little did he know that Emily was right next to him, smiling. When she saw him cry all she could do was cry too. She had no way of telling him good-bye. No way of telling him she loved him. She held up her hand to see the ring that AJ had put on it the day of her death. "He already knew." Emily thought to herself and her lips curled up to form a small smile. She turned away and found herself infront of AJ. He couldn't see her yet he stared into her eyes. He tilted his head as his he could hear Emily's cries. But he couldn't and turn away stepping off the small stage. He went to sit next to his friends and whispered under his breath, "Good-bye Emily. See you in heaven some day. Look out for me." One tear fell from Emily's eye as she got pulled up to heaven. The last thing AJ would feel of hers, for it had landed on his shoulder.
