We jerked apart abruptly, startled.
"Hey, you guys, we found some fresh water. It's this little stream and we've even found a little clear spot where we can stay. It's pretty close to a beach, too," Nick said.
"The beach is for romantic purposes, like a moonlit walk at night," Howie teased, looking at us meaningfully.
"Hey!" AJ said.
I blushed.
"I think we know what THEY'VE been doing!" Kev said knowingly.
"Hey!" I yelped.
"Quit that!" AJ said.
They all laughed. Then the time to be back passed, with no sign of Kristy and Brian. At first we joked around, like 'Ooh, we know why they're late!' But as it got later and darker, we started to get worried.
"What if something happened to them?" I said, shivering in the coolness.
AJ put his arm around me.
"Don't worry, I'm sure they're fine. B-Rok won't let anything happen."
AJ was trying his best to reassure me, but it didn't work too well. I didn't say anything, but that was just because I was too worried to talk. Suddenly there was a rustling in the undergrowth off to the left. I gasped and clutched AJ's arm.
"What was that?" I whispered, peering tensely into the blackness.
Kev swore.
"I wonder what that is," I heard Nick say.
Howie shrugged.
Suddenly 2 figures leaped into the clearing, howling. Everyone started screaming and yelling. In a reflexive panic action, I tried to scramble to my feet, only remembering that I couldn't when my leg refused to move. Suddenly the figures started BUSTING up laughing!
~*~Kristy's POV~*~
Brian and I were trying our hardest to contain our laughter. Their faces were SO funny!
"Kristen, where the fuck were you?!?!" Korin yelled.
"Well, we lost track of time. It took us a lot longer getting back than we thought it would. Then I tripped over a rock cause I could see, which delayed us more. When we finally got here, we just had to scare you guys," I said.
"You should NOT have scared us! That was SO not fucking funny!" said Korin.
"Hey, it was Brian's idea!" I exclaimed, putting my hands up in the air.
"Hey, you're supposed to be on my side!" Brian whined.
"Since when?" I asked.
"Since now," he replied as he leaned down and kissed me.
When he pulled away, I said, "Ok, I'm on his side now!"
Everyone was staring at us in shock.
"Well, that explains why they were an hour late!" Nick said.
"No! I swear that wasn't it! We only kissed once!" I said.
"Well, twice," Brian stated.
"Ok, twice, but it was just 25 minutes ago, and it did NOT take that long, so that's not why we were late!" I exclaimed.
"Uh huh, sure," they all said.
"It's not!" I pouted.
"We're sure Kristy," Korin said.
"I swear, it isn't!"
"Mmm-hmm. I believe you."
"It's not!"
"Is too!"
"Is not!"
"Too!"
"Not!"
"Too!
"Not!"
"Damn, you two ARE stubborn, aren't you?" Brian interrupted.
"Yep!" Korin and I said in unison.
We all laughed.
"Well, when me, Howie, and Kev were coming back we walked in on Korin and AJ about to kiss," Nick said.
"Oh really Korin? And you were teasing me?" I said smugly.
She blushed. Well, it was dark so I couldn't see her blush but I knew her well enough to know that she was.
We decided to hit the sack since it had been a LONG day. We got out some pillows and blankets the guys had gotten from the plane and spread them out. We talked a little and went to sleep. Well, they went to sleep. I, however, had insomnia. I HATE it when that happens! I get insomnia a lot more than most people, so I usually have sleeping pills at hand (I'm not addicted, I only take them when I need them). But, of course, my pills were on the plane! So I was just staying awake. I rolled over (for the millionth time), and Brian, who was sleeping next to me, sat up.
"I didn't wake you up, did I?" I asked.
"Nope, I just can't sleep," he answered.
"Me either."
We talked quietly for awhile. Then he pulled me into his arms and I drifted off to sleep peacefully.
