10th Car - '87 Honda Accord. After reading tons of reviews I decided to look around for one of these Hondas. I found this one with low miles, I just couldn't find one with a stick. This car has performed flawlessly, and I still own it (gave it to Tammy). We once hit 130mph on the downhill stretch out of Oregon in this car. Check my crashes page to see what Tammy did to it in '98. |
11th Car - 1970 Porsche 914. I had been talking to this old guy on and off for over two years when finally he agreed to sell me his decrepid car. It was a rare car due to the fact that hardly any 914's were produced without the appearance package (vinyl rollbar, chrome bumpers, etc.). This one had factory body colored bumpers and roll bar, steel wheels, and white plastic headlight surrounds. It was the coolest. After working on it for over a year, I was forced to sell it in order to pay off some bills. I remember the smog laws changing shortly after I sold the car (smogging it was a pain). |
12th Car - Although I was determined to get out of debt, I still needed a 2nd car. I was helping my brother Jim move and I noticed his fiancee's (Kila's) car sitting amidst a pile of trash. He said they were planning on leaving it, so I offered them $300 for it. An '82 sentra with 4 flat tires, major front & rear damage, shattered windshield and door glass, no battery, shredded seats, and unknown mechanical condition. It seemed like a mess, but I thought I could fix it. It turned out to be a suprisingly reliable car. It never once complained when subjected to major abuse. I sold the car four years later when we left Redding and I still miss it. NEXT PAGE |
