Jousting Field of Britain
(please refrain from talking during the matches)
Welcome to the jousting field of Britain, Realms of Pendragon! This place has been created so that citizens of Britain (and all interested parties) may have their own venue in which to practice thier jousting; as well as having events whenever the desire strikes!
For those of you interested in jousting, and have not the gestures nor the know-how; I have created a page to help.
The rules for jousting are as follows: In all tournament play, every jouster will be IMed a number before the competition begins, with someone among the crowd selecting two numbers to start the joust. This way, noone will know in advance who they are jousting. Then, the Judge will call the match to begin (as outlined on the Joust Help Page). The match continues until someone reaches the goal of 5 points. Each point must be earned. If the match continues, where noone achieves a point for 10 minutes, the match will be called a draw and both jousters will advance.
The tournaments are double elimination. Double elimination means: you must lose twice to be eliminated. The jousters that win go on to the winners bracket, and the jousters that lose once go on to the losers bracket. Winners fight winners and losers fight losers until the winner of the winners fights the winner of the losers. Then, the jouster that has the one loss must beat the jouster that has no losses twice in order to win. If the jouster with no losses wins the first joust, then that jouster is champion. (These are standard tournament rules for all competitive sports, and games.)
Allowances are made for lag and so forth. Points are not won when someone lags, freezes or boots. We all assume honour in the situation and that people are honest as to whether they truly are having difficulty.
Talking during matches causes the jousters to be distracted and is frowned upon. Please leave all conversation to IMs once a match begins, whilst refraining from IMing jousters or judges until the match is over.
We hope everyone has a great time! This can be great fun, so give it a shot! Bright Blessings...Danae
