“Come on, let’s get in the car, we’re going to be late, you know.” Kevin Richardson said, as he walked angrily to his car with his long time girlfriend Josephine. “You always know how to waste time in that washroom of yours, don’t you?” He mumbled, as he turned the keys in the ignition.
“I’m sorry.” Josephine said quietly. For the past few months now, her relationship with Kevin, wasn’t all it used to be. When they were first together, it was because they loved each other dearly, and they were truly, in love. But now, as time went by, both of them grew less and less fond of each other, and it was almost at the point, where they couldn’t stand each other. Kevin’s job became more and more demanding, making his tolenrence level drop dramtically, and being a producer who’s career was finally picking up, Josephine found less and less time to be alone, with Kevin.
Josephine had been thinking of breaking it off with Kevin for a while, as he has too. Neither one wanted to do it though, because when one was on the verge of doing so, the other would do something, to make them realize how much they do actually care for each other. They both seemed to be clinging on, as if they needed each other.
But enough was enough. With all of Kevin’s mood swings lately, and Josephine’s frustrated sighs, they were both ready to call it quits.
“Kevin, I think we need to talk.” Josephine said as they drove off down the boulevard. “Things don’t seem to be working out anymore... We aren’t what we used to be...” She began.
“I know what you mean...” He all but grunted. He began to grow frustrated, and he unconsciously began to speed up. “Almost all we do is fight, and honestly, it’s pissing me off.”
“You’re not the only one who sick of this. Do you know how anoying it is to have to put up with your pathetic attempts to be right all the time?” She explained to him.
“My pathetic attempts to be right?!? I’m sorry, but I think you have the wrong person here. I do not, I repeat, I do not, make pathetic attempts to-”
“Kev, I know you do, you know you do, deal with it.” Josephine said, cutting him off.
“Well, you, my dear, are always complaining or are either up in our room, crying your eyes out for no reason.” Kevin snapped back, turning his head to her to yell even more.
“No reason? How the hell can you say that?”
“Simple. For-No-Reason-At...”
“Kevin!” Josephine screamed. Turning his head to the road, he was too late to even realize what hit him.
The driver’s side of Kevin’s car got hit hard, creating his car to spin off the road, and hit a stop sign. Kevin’s body all but flopped around, as if it was a mear toy doll. All that was able to be heard, was the sound of metal against metal, the screahing of breaks, and the ear peircing scream exceding Josephine’s mouth, calling Kevin’s name, as he lay in the car, lifeless.
Josephine seemed to have not gotten badly hurt in this accident, seeming as the car was not hit on her side. She had a few bruises and cuts on her head and arms, but it was nothing compared to the damage Kevin faced right now.
His body was almost folded over, due to the hard hit, and the windshield had broken, and got crushed next to Kevin, digging into his side. He wasn’t responding to any of Josephine’s cries, he just lay there, hardly breathing, his eyes closed, behind his head.
“Where am I?” Kevin asked, sitting up. He looked over and saw Josephine crying, like a newborn child without it’s mother. “Josephine, what’s the matter?” He asked, but she didn’t answer.
He lifted his hand to place it on her shoulder to comfort her, but to his surprise, his hand, wasn’t able to get a hold of her. I went right through her body.
“What the hell?” He said, pulling his hand back towards himself, down in front of him, so he could look at it. As he looked down to examine his hand, he was able to see below him, and there, underneath him, lay his own body, covered in blood.
Kevin was half in a state of shock. Was his body really lying below him? Why wasn’t Josephine able to hear his calls? Suddenly, it hit him, like a ton of bricks. “Oh my god... I’m dead...” He said aloud, to no one who could hear him.
“No, I’m afraid you’re not.” A voice said from behind him.
Kevin turned around, and noticed a bright figure behind him. He got up from inside the car, and walked over to this person. The closer he got, the more familiar this person seemed to him. Once Kevin was a few feet away from the person it hit him.
Without even giving Kevin a chance to speak, the person spoke “Yes Kevin. It’s me.”
Kevin stared at a middle aged man, with the face he knew only too well. The face he remembered every single night when he went to bed, and prayed. The face of the man, who in his eyes, was a hero, for being so strong. A face, which was of the man, he loved more than anyone else in the world. The face, of his father.
“Dad? Is that really you?”
“Yes son, it’s me.”
“Dad...” Kevin said, choking on his words a bit, not believing that he was in the presence of his father. Kevin walked over to his father, and the two of them hugged.
After a few minutes, Kevin broke away, and was puzzled. “How come I can hug you, but I can’t touch Josephine?” He asked.
“Josephine isn’t like you and I right now...”
“So, what is this? Us, I mean...”
“There isn’t exactly a word for it. A superior being? Angels? Spirits? Everyone calls us something, but no one really knows what to call us. They just figure they can explain things by giving them names. No one knows what we really are...”
Kevin looked at his father once more, before becoming totally flooded with emotions. “Oh dad. I’ve missed you so much. You don’t know who hard things have been for these days. The guys and I are alwasy getting on each others nevtves, and things seem to be so wrong between Josephine and I and...”
“Kevin, I know. I hear you every night. When you talk to me, I can hear you. I know all of what’s going on in your life right now. I watch over you, you know. And time to time, I even get to drop in, and see how you’re doing... Like now...”
Kevin crinkled his brow. “I’m guessing you heard the fight Josephine and I had, right?”
His father nodded. “That’s what got you into this mess...”
“Dad, I don’t know what to do anymore. We’re not the same anymore. It used to be, that I woke up every morning, for her. She was like, my will to go on. And now, I wake up, and I’m almost replused by the sight of her. I can’t explain it. I can be so furious, and hate her one moment, and then, she’ll do the cutest thing, like when she’s reading something, and doesn’t get it, she crinkles up her nose, and you can’t help but laugh...” Kevin trailled off, suddenly being rushed with the good memories him and Josephine have had together. Kevin shook his head, and stared at his father. “What am I soposed to do now?”
“There’s not much you can do... I mean, look...” Kevin’s father pointed to the wreckage, and the body, which minutes earlier, was inhabited by Kevin. “I don’t know of anything that can really help this...”
Kevin looked over, and saw Josephine crying uncontrollably. She had her arms drapped over Kevin’s chest, almost as if she didn’t want to let him go. She kissed the side of his face, creating her tears to fall down from her cheeks to his. Kevin moved closer, and listened to her prayers.
“Oh God... If you by any chance listening to me right now, please, please, please help me. Don’t let me lose Kevin. I need him. His carrer is in a wonderful place right now, everything is headed in a great direction... This should have been me... This should have been... Me... I love this man so much...” She looked at the frail, hurt body of the man she has loved for the longest time, and her tears continued to flow, and her words became choppy.
“I... I don’t think I could live if he isn’t in my life. I know... I know we’ve been having a hard time the last little while, but honestly, I love him with all my heart, and for him to be gone... I... I just don’t know how I’m going to deal with it...”
She held in no more tears. They came out, faster, and more than before. Her words were no longer able to come out her mouth, they were cut off, and her soabs could be heard, coming from deep inside.
Kevin crinckled his brow. He didn’t know what to do. Did he really love her the way she did he? Did he really want to spend the rest of his life with this woman. He watched her for a moment. The tears down her face were clear, unlike most people Kevin’s dated, Josephine didn’t wear make up, so there were no dark smudge lines. That’s one thing he always loved about her. Her purity. Her smile was so innocent, and Kevin could swear that when she smiled at someone, their whole heart melted.
As he watched he hold onto his body, holding on tight, he thought of how small she was compared to him. His one hand alone could hold onto both of hers, and practically cover them. He remembered how the first time he hugged her, he was afraid to hold on too tight, scared that he was going to crush her little body. Kevin moved her arms, crossing them across his chest, trying to rememeber the feeling her hugs would give him. He smiled to himself.
He closed his eyes, and took a deep breath. He didn’t know what to do.He silently thought everything over. “If I go back to Josephine, the one woman who could have seriously won my heart over forever, will be back in my life. But if I leave, the one man who I’ve loved unconditionally for years, will be gone form my life again. It’s almost like this accident gave him back to me. Do I really want to lose him again?”
Kevin’s thoughts were cut short, by the feeling of a hand on his shoulder. He turned around, and his fther was standing in front of him. “Kevin, it’s time for you to choose. Are you going to stay, or go?”
Kevin looked at his father, and back to Josephine. It was time to make the decision.

Brian was back home in Kentucky, after the group had decided on a few weeks of a break. The decided it was the best thing they could do for the time being, seeming as everything was getting difficult.
Brian sat at home one Saturday morning, at his kitchen table, holding onto a small envelope the family recieved earlier that day. “Should I open it nowl Mom?” Brian asked.
“Yes, no use in putting it off any longer.”
Brian took a silent deep breath, and began to open the envelope. Once he was done, he pulled out a small brown crad, which on the cover was a small picture of a cross. Brian looked up at his mother, who was doing the dishes, and looked back down at the card. He slowly opend it, and decided to read it aloud.
“Richardson.” He began, his mother lifted her head from what she was doing, and she gave Brian her full attetion. Brian began again.
“Richardson, Kyle, was born on September 18th, to the father Kevin Richardson, and the mother Josephine Mathews. This bouncing baby boy weighed in at 5 pounds, 3 ounces, and is in doing fine. The parents would like to announce that they will be a small get together in the name of the child, as soon as Kyle, and the mother are well enough to get out of the hospital.”
Brian’s mother smiled, and took the card from him. “Isn’t that just so wonderful? Your cousin is a father...”
Brian smiled and got up from the chair. “I know. I’m so happy for him. This has always meant something to him, having his own family. I think Kevin is going to make a wonderful father.”
“Yes, he’ll make a perfect father.
