Differents

  • The middle verse of "The old Gumbie Cat" is cur from the American show.
  • The main verse of "Grizabella the Glamour cat" occurs after "Rum Tum Tugger" in America
but at the end of the first act in London.
  • Bustopher Jones' solo is greatly condensed in America (from 15 lines to 8).
  • The last verse of "Old Deuteronomy" is not in the American Production (The middle verse of the
original poem, which doesn't scan, was omitted from both productions!)
  • At the end of the first act, Grizabella sings one stanza of "memory" in London but three in America.
  • In the London show, Growltiger and Griddlebone's "last duet" is "The Ballad of Billy McCaw, but in
America it was dropped in favor of an Italian opera parody.
(IMHO "Billy McCaw" is better bacause a funny drinking song seems
more in character for a pirate cat.)
  • The American lyrics for "Memory" are slightly different from the "standard" lyrics.
  • Two Jellicles underwent name changes in the journey from London to America:
Gilbert became Genghis and Jemima became Sillabub.
