Tumblebrutus

Tumblebrutus is a typical "boy cat."
He likes to jump around and He has so much energy,
he can't help himself from tumbling all over the place.
He finds fun in imitating the likes of Tugger and Munkustrap.

Tumblbrutus is a young tomcat, a kitten, perhaps?
He is good friends with Pouncival and Mistoffelees.
Pouncival could be his brother. He looks a lot like him.
Tumblebrutus has a talent for tumbling.
If he sings something, he does it with a handspring or somersault.

Tumblebrutus' role is one of the dangerous ones.
And that's because the tumbling element.
The stage is slick and slanted, what makes the tumbling more difficult to control.
Tumblebrutus also plays the Fake Macavity on Broadway.

He is played by:

  • Roland Alexander: Original London Cas, 1981.
  • Robert Hoshour: Original Broadway cast, 1982.
  • Stewart Crowley: Original Sydney cast, 1985.
  • Gilles Vajou: Original Paris Cast, 1989.
  • Fergus Logan: Video, 1997-98; London Cast, c. 1996-98.
Logan played Tumblebrutus in the Cats Video, but on the West End he performed as Mistoffelees.
Perhaps he is one of the only Mistoffelees to end his solo with a front handsprings stepout!
