The Media - The Music Industry's Evil Little Helper
The music industry creates the music trends and marketing strategies, and the media promotes them. Using all possible means of advertising (including television, radio, magazines, newspapers, and the internet), the media promotes it to the point that nobody can go anywhere without seeing or hearing about the latest music trend. The objective is to hype up the trend so much it will sink into every person's mind so that he or she will buy everything connected with that trend, from albums of involved artists to magazines to all related merchandise, regardless of what it is. The bottom line for all of this: money. The music industry knows that they can make lots of money because the media knows how to get people to spend that money. It's a vicious cycle. As for the exact strategies of the music industry and the media, go to the evil pratices section for the details.
