During this 2001 after-school chess club, Kindergarten and
first graders are coached by second through fifth graders.

The book Chess for Children by Ted Nottingham   (available from Amazon.com), teaches the revolutionary Lincolnshire method by which children learn to play this enjoyable but challenging game one piece at a time.

Learning how each piece moves is simplified through games such as "Pawns", "Attack of the Mad Queen", "Bishop's Test", "The Rook's Exercise", "Knight's Driving Test" and "Duel of the Kings".

Students practice basic strategies before placing all pieces on the chess board at the same time!
