Album Review:
The Sequel to the Bruce Springsteen's debut album, the epic "Born To Run." "Darkness on the Edge of Town" doesn't pick up where Born to Run left off, rather it visits these characters several years later. The innocent dreams of their youth have been replaced with the harshness of an unkind world and total terror. This album makes an effort to show heroism in the people you would least expect it in. Springsteen tells a story with each song, and showed he was becoming one of the best writers in the business, following in the footsteps of Bob Dylan.
Darkness on the edge of town was a breakout for Springsteen. "Badlands," "Adam Raised A Cain," "Candy's Room," "The Promised Land" and "Darkness on the Edge of Town" are all classic rock tunes. The music is beautifully arranged although at times a little too basic, but with electrical guitar instrumentals, he adds new dimensions to his music. "Racing in the Street" and "Something in the Night" are in their own way laments, but provide an indullible picture. Bruce Springsteen's "Darkness On The Edge of Town" is a recommended buy, because their is so much their, for the mind willing to search for it.
