TAMPA, Fla. (Sept. 17, 1998) – The University of South Florida’s University Lecture Series will present the hosts of MTV’s hit show Loveline as part of its fall featured speakers series. The duo of Dr. Drew Pinsky and Adam Carolla will mix humor and professional expertise as they answer questions about sex and relationships beginning at 7 p.m. on Oct.12 in the USF Sun Dome.

College students across the country are turning to a new source for answers to their questions about sex, drugs, and relationships. Loveline is billed as lively and light-hearted, but informative.

"The goal of the show, first and foremost, is education, and secondly, to help people as much as we possibly can," says Dr. Drew. He is the non-judgmental authoritative half of Loveline who provides insight into the many controversial and complex issues raised by callers.

On the other hand, there’s Adam who says "My job is to entertain." He is politically incorrect, opinionated, wise-cracking comic who adds levity to otherwise serious and solemn matters.

Pinsky received his undergraduate degree from Amherst College and his M.D. from the USC School of Medicine. A board certified internist and addictionalogist, he is the medical director for the department of chemical dependency services at Las Encinas Hospital in Pasadena and the chief of service in the department of medicine.

Adam is a stand-up comedian who spent years honing his skills with the famous Groundling and Acme Improv groups in Los Angeles. Before Loveline, he worked on the KROQ-FM morning show in Los Angeles. His father is a psychologist and his 83-year-old grandmother is a sex therapist.
