GOT QUESTIONS? GET ANSWERS.
********************************************
QUESTION: I gave plasma a few months ago. I know that they test the plasma
for various diseases, but if anything comes back positive do they contact
you?
DR. DREW: Usually you will get a letter from whichever organization that
has taken your plasma. If you do not, then you will be hearing from the
Public Health Department in short order, as these are reportable disorders
and the Public Health Department will follow through.
QUESTION: I'm 15 years old with size D boobs. The pancake of my nipple is
REALLY big and it makes me too uncomfortable to take off my shirt in front
of a guy. Is there any way to shrink it, and is this normal?
DR. DREW: This is quite common for women with large breasts. There is no
easy way to change this, nor would I suggest that you try. What you need
to know is that most men couldn't care less about this, and many, in fact,
appreciate it as a significant positive. You are 15 now. I'm sure as time
goes on you will feel more comfortable about your body image. Everyone at
your age has issues about how they look, and these things become easier to
accept as you grow older.
QUESTION: I was drugged and raped three years ago by another female. Since
then, I cannot form lasting relationships with men. Why am I so afraid to
be close to anyone, and what can I do to change?
DR. DREW: I'm not surprised that you have difficulty being vulnerable and
close to other people after having been so severely violated. I would
recommend that you get involved in a rape-counseling group. Being able to
open up in a group and share with people who have feelings similar to
yours goes a long way toward improving your ability to connect and be open
with other people and hopefully heal these feelings.
QUESTION: I'm a teenager and all my relationships last for around two
months and then fall apart. I have tried many types of girls and all of
them seem good for me at first, but it never works out. I don't know if
it's me or the girls I choose or both. How can I tell if a girl is right
for me?
DR. DREW: These are completely normal preoccupations with teenagers.
Really the whole process of dating in late adolescence is about trying to
figure out who you are and what you need in a relationship. Listen to your
feelings. Try to learn from your experiences, but don't fret. Things will
become clearer as time goes on.
