GOT QUESTIONS? GET ANSWERS
********************************************
Question: After I ejaculate, I seem to have a second discharge. It
consists of about a teaspoon of "stringy" stuff. If I go to the bathroom
shortly after ejaculation, I can push it out through urination, but if I
stay in bed or forget about it, I end up with a leaky mess. There is no
pain, stinging or discoloration whatsoever. Is this something to be
worried about?
Dr. Drew: This is definitely nothing to worry about. There is always some
semen left in the plumbing that is not forcibly ejected by the muscular
contraction of orgasm. It tends to either leak out spontaneously or be
pushed out with urine.
Question: I spend 45 minutes every morning doing my hair. I feel the need
to make a bun perfectly centered on the back of my head and do it until it
is exactly right. Sometimes, I know that it looks okay [I check a style
guide] but I can't seem to stop. My friends have noticed this, and it has
become a major pain in the ass. I am wondering if this could be attributed
to obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), or this is just my weird little
problem?
Dr. Drew: The symptoms you're describing are certainly associated with
obsessive-compulsive behavior. The intrusive thoughts and repetitive
behaviors you have are not only unpleasant, they are also hallmark
symptoms of OCD. One of the most common manifestations of OCD involves
hair-hair-pulling, tearing out hair or peculiar concerns about hair, such
as its cleanliness. This behavior is obviously interfering with your life,
so you should seek treatment. People with OCD typically respond well to
the same medication used to treat other anxiety disorders. Studies also
show that one of the most successful treatments is a combination of drug
and behavioral therapy. Talk to your doctor about your options.
Question: My dad told me that he didn't start puberty until he was
16. Will I develop late as well?
Dr. Drew: The onset of puberty certainly does have a genetic component to
it, however, there is increasing evidence that environment plays an
important role, as well. If you do develop later than some of your peers,
remember that late onset of puberty is associated with longevity.
Question: I thought this guy liked me because I always caught him staring
at me in class. Then, when I got the courage to ask him out, he smiled and
said, "No, thank you." After that I figured he would stop staring at me,
but he hasn't. Why does he always stare at me if he doesn't like me? Is he
a psycho?
Dr. Drew: There are a lot of potential explanations for his behavior. He
could have a girlfriend, or perhaps his parents won't allow him date and
he's embarrassed to tell you. Of course, there could be something wrong
with him. You would need to find out more about this young man before you
could assess whether or not there is a legitimate reason for his behavior
or if he has more serious problems.
