June 26, 2003: Dean finally has a solo release! On the Handpicked Volume 2 compilation, he contributes a song called "Mountain Top." The song was brought in by him for consideration for the latest Hootie record. It didn't make it, obviously, so Dean and Nick Brophy produced and recorded this song in LA. Dean plays guitar and sings, while Nick adds guitar. Mark Danziesen plays drums. Dean has also been playing and recording a lot with a Columbia band called The Soul Mites.
