Girlfriend Upgrade
Last year, my friend upgraded his GirlFriend3.1 to GirlFriendPlus1.0
(marketing name: Fiancee1.0). Recently he upgraded Fiancee1.0 to
Wife1.0 and it's a memory hogger, has taken all his space; and Wife1.0
must be running before he can do anything. Although he didn't ask for
them, Wife1.0 came with Plug-ins such as MotherInLaw and BrotherInLaw.
Some features I'd like to see in the upcoming GirlFriend4.0 . . .
*A "Don't remind me again" button
*Minimize button
*Shutdown Feature
*An install-shield feature so that GirlFriend4.0 can be completely
uninstalled if so desired
(so you don't lose cache and other objects).
I tried to run GirlFriend2.0 with GirlFriend1.0 still installed, but they
conflicted. Then I tried to uninstall GirlFriend1.0 but it didn't have
an uninstall program. I tried to uninstall it by hand, but it put files
in my system directory. All versions of GirlFriend that I've used are
totally "object oriented" and only support hardware with gold plated
contacts.

Tech support request . . .
Last year I upgraded Girlfriend 1.0 to Wife 1.0 and noticed that the new
program began unexpected child processing that took up a lot of space
and valuable resources. No mention of this phenomenon was included in
the product brochure.
In addition, Wife 1.0 launches during system
initialization and stays resident in memory where it monitors all other
system activity. Applications such as Pokernight 10.3 and Beerparty v2.5
no longer run. In fact they keep crashing the system whenever selected.
I cannot seem to purge Wife 1.0 from my system. I am thinking about
going back to Girlfriend 1.0 but un-install does not work on this
program. Can you help me?

Tech support reply . . .
Dear Frustrated,
This is a very common problem for men but it's really due primarily to a
common misconception. Many people upgrade from Girlfriend 1.0 to Wife
1.0 with the idea that Wife 1.0 is merely a "Utilities & Entertainment"
program. Wife 1.0 is not a "plug-in" or "add-on" as commonly thought, but
an entire operating system. It was designed by its creator to run
everything.
Warning: do not try to uninstall, delete or purge this program from the
system once installed. Trying to uninstall Wife 1.0 can be disastrous.
The program was not
designed to be uninstalled. Some have tried to install Girlfriend 2.0 or
Wife 2.0 but end up with more problems than the original system. Look in
your manual under Warnings - Legal Fees/Alimony/Child Support. Others
have tried to run Girlfriend 2.0 in the background. This can be
effective for a short period of time but eventually Wife 1.0 detects
Girlfriend 2.0 and a system conflict occurs. This can lead to a
non-recoverable system crash.
Some users have tried to download similar programs such as Fling 2.3,
Niteout v1.1, Hookers v4.2 and 1NiteStand. Often they are bootlegged
products and will infect the system with a virus. The most well known
being Acquired Intentionally Defective Source-code (AIDS) which not only
destroys your machine but all attached peripheral devices and any
devices which may have been connected after the initial infection. See
warnings section of your manual regarding boot sector Viruses. I
recommend you keep Wife 1.0 and just deal with the quirks.
Having installed wife 1.0 myself, I might also suggest you read the
entire section regarding General Protection Faults (GPFs). You must
assume responsibility for all faults and problems that occur. This may
require you to apologize & click OK many times in order to close
offending programs and avoid a serious lock-up. Wife 1.0 is an excellent
program but is very high maintenance and requires a great deal of system
resources. Run the following utilities regularly for best performance:
-TLC
-FTD
-Communicator 5.5
