change of heart: chapter 3

After a long time of looking I decided on wearing a pair of flair jeans and a multi-colored shirt with black sleeves that said “house of blues” on it. I wore my favorite black boots and my tattoo looking choker around my neck. My hair was up in a clip.

As 7:00 came closer I became more nervous. It wasn’t because Dave was famous it was because I really seemed to like him.

At exactly 7:00 my doorbell rang. I froze, in a way I wished Ashley was there, but I was also glad that she wasn’t...for Dave’s and his brothers sake. I smiled at Dave’s promptness.

I opened the door and was greeted by a smiling Dave. He looked at me then his mouth dropped. “Whoa...”

I smirked. “Should I get a napkin for that drool that’s trickling down your chin?”

He closed his mouth and checked to see if he really was drooling. “I was kidding!” I said as I poked him in the chest.

“Oh,” he smiled. “You look really nice.”

I smiled back at him. “Thank you,” I said as I closed the door.

For the first time I saw what he was wearing. A pair of baggy jeans and a blue button up shirt, unbuttoned just enough to reveal the white wife beater he was wearing underneath. “You look good too.”

We made our way to the car and he opened the door for me. “I hope you don’t mind sitting between me and my brother, Clint,” he said.

I looked at both of them. “Oh, I think I can manage it,” I said with a smile.

Clint smiled at me once I sat down next to him.

I was introduced to Bob and Scott. After a while I decided that they were nice guys.

Dave

I smiled at everyone around the table. “This is going great!” I thought to myself. We were all at the restaurant now. Meri was talking to Scott about her friend Ashley. Scott seemed interested and so did Clint. Although it was obvious that Clint was more interested in Meri, than what she was saying. Bob just sat quietly and listened. I could tell he thought she was cool though.

“So...Meri, tell us where the coolest places are to hang out here in Miami. Since we are going to be here for vacation,” Bob said.

“You’re gonna be here for vacation?” she asked.

Clint sat up. “Yeah, we have a few weeks left of touring. Then, we’ll spend some time at home, then come here for a family vacation. We are also gonna start recording our new album here,” he said.

She smiled. “That’s cool.”

“Maybe we could all hook up sometime when we’re here,” I said, trying not to make it sound too much like a date.

“We’ll talk about that later, first I gotta meet this Ashley friend of yours,” Scott said picking up the check.

Clint

“....So that’s how we got the band together,” I explained to Meri as we walked to the car. I was really enjoying her company. At first I only liked her for her looks, but as I got to know her better I realized she was a really nice person and I couldn’t help but like her more. We had just come from the mall and I didn’t want her to go home, but it was that time. We had made plans to get together later in the week.

“Well, I guess we’re here,” Scott said as he pulled up to her house.

“See you tomorrow, Meri!” Bob said from the front seat.

“Bye,” Dave said disappointedly.

“I’ll walk you to your door,” I said opening my door.

She said bye to everyone then walked with me up to her door step.

“Well, uhh, I guess you’re home,” I said.

“Yeah.”

“I was wondering if you wanted to come to our concert tomorrow night?”

“That would be cool.”

“Great, bring Ashley. I’ll call you and we can work out the plans.”

“Okay.”

I slowly leaned in and kissed her on the cheek, wishing it was her lips. “Bye,” I said.

“Bye,” she said opening the door.

I started walking to the car. I couldn’t help but notice the look of jealousy in Dave’s eyes as I got in.

Meri

As I closed my front door and went up to my room I had only one thing on my mind, and that was Clint Moffatt.
